Also a good idea to ensure that the platform under the mattress is 25~50mm smaller than the mattress in walking areas.
Winnebago didn't.

how does the mattress stay in place with no edging? Could you velcro it down or somthing?

We use 25mm woven straps (like seatbelts, but narrower).
Buckle strap shorter than the height of the mattress, and only just tight enough to hold it in place... any tighter and you'll feel it under the sheets. :(
