I also had a change of plans. Decided to go straight to Wagga, now at Wilks Park.
Tuesday Woolworths at North Wagga for shopping.
Wednesday booked in for 5 new tyres at Tyrepower [TOYO's 195/75/16 HO8].
Thursday booked in for a pink slip for Trailer, then register it at RMS.
Friday 0830 hours, STC's.

Re: Where we're gonna be...
Ray is there any chance that damage was started when the MH was brought back from WA?
When I was in car carrying I saw damage like that when vehicles were chained down on trains & trucks.
How was it shipped? Train? They put some fierce pressure on those turn buckles!!

Re: Where we're gonna be...
Not sure if this will be good news for you or not Ray, but Jim is back in the world of the living. Turns out, who ever was doing the servicing on the transmission was only changing the oil, not pulling the pan off and cleaning the strainer and replacing the "O" ring on the pick up. The strainer was blocked and the "O" ring spilt, so the pump was sucking air with the oil causing it to cavitate, that was the noise. Sadly it has seriously damaged the clutches, so it might be a short term reprieve before the transmission does need to be totally rebuilt, oil starvation resulted in loss of clamping pressure on the clutch packs and they have started to tear themselves to pieces.
So, who ever was doing the transmission servicing, they were not doing the job properly and the problem compounded, that is what eventually caused to "fail to proceed"

Re: Where we're gonna be...
Bruce,
Girt was entrained Perth to Adelaide, trucked from there to Rutherglen.
(Between Adelaide and Melbourne there are bridges & tunnels. Didn’t want Girt to have a coupe conversion.)
Further investigation by mechanic has revealed that US supplier of Chevy Workhorse chassis parts is out of stock of the left lower wishbone. Next production run is scheduled for 3 months hence.
So Girt has been relocated (VERY carefully) to John’s farm shed to await developments.
We’re heading home tomorrow....
Unless T1 can work Jim-style resurrection magic on Girt as well.

Re: Where we're gonna be...
haha ... That's what I'd do but I wasn't going to suggest it in case the 'fun' police were on this forum too..
It would need to be well done and made to look like it 'belonged'.
OK if I go drop it off Ray? lol!
It actually looks like a piece has been taken out of it? Not easy to see in the photo.
I still suspect the railways attempt to hold it down. If they dogged it down without air & then started the motor prior to un-tying it in Adelaide it would have built up air & ????? oooops!

Re: Where we're gonna be...
Yes. Ray and I gave welding it up serious consideration at least to get him home but thought if any accident occurred and they spotted it everyone could be in the big poo. Also it would not pass an inspection for a roadworthy when he comes to sell it. The mechanics here also seem to know what they are doing so decided to wait for the parts and have it fixed properly. Ray and Joy hired a car and should be home again by now and Girt is tucked up in my shed.
Cheers John
