It is not about the initial outlay of dollars as the Bushman is more expensive. I often hear about how good my Engel is because it's 20 years old etc. but you also hear about them (and other brands) having problems when only a few years old. There is a woman camped up where we are, she has 3 Engels and one of which died a few months ago just out of warranty. I guess what I'm saying is anything mechanical like this is subject to failing, which is why when I buy something like this I don't just look at the name. I look at the type of components used, the track record of the equipment, the availability and cost of spares and ease of repair if required. It came down to two models when I was researching, they are the Engel and the Bushman. But as I have said a few times now, it all depends on how you are going to use it and your own requirements. The way the lid opens (Engel from the end, bushman from the side), power use etc. The big draw card for me was the versatility to be able to change the capacity (four sizes) from 35 ltr up to 52 ltr. I just hope I can be talking about how well it has run in 20 years time.
