Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Good morning.
I didn't get up to much yesterday, just some little jobs for Carol.
We are back to using the bore water for the gardens, keeping what fresh we have for the veggies.
Not alot in the veggie patch, just some cabbage, lettuce, chillies, and pumpkins, picked the last of the tomatoes.
Unfortunately for me Terry where the diesel heater is ...is the only place it can go.
Thanks for the linc to the DC to DC on eBay. That's the one that gets too hot, according to the linc Jon put up.... unless I could mount it in the engine bay near the fan for the intercooler??. maybe...
It's four degrees outside Fire 🔥 is on😁
No plans for today as yet 🤔
Keep safe and warm.

Bernie,

I bought a 12-24 version one of these for the bus. I haven't really tested it out yet. It's not as configurable as the Victron, however I do like the switch settings. Plus, I like the way you can put an extra switch in the D wire, so you can turn it on/off from the dash when driving.

I have the lithium voltage set quite low. Becuase I believe that when driving, you only need to get some charge back into the lithium. It doesn't need to always be full. The solar will top it up, the DCDC will give enough for the next day or so.

Jon's link is for a 12/12-30, not a 24/12-30. The 12/12 does over reach, you'll see they mention outputs of 32 amps and 34 amps, its max output is supposed to be 30 amps, not bad if it does better than the sales blurb  We mounted two small fans on the top side of a unit that was over doing itself and getting warm/hot, mounted a 40*C thermostat to the heatsink and ran the fan negative through that, problem disappeared ... in this case, there were so many things in the electrical compartment it couldn't get cool air in and a clear path for the hot air to escape, the fan assist sorted the air flow problem.
If you find a 24/12 doing a similar thing, if you have a clear air access behind the board the unit is mounted on, a hole with a fan mounted on the other side of the wall pushing cool air in and a thermostat wired to the fan and mounted on the heatsink fins below where the fan entry was, that would sort any heat issues if they occurred.
I've just ordered 2 x 24/24/17 DC to DC units, $550 for both to pump the equivalent of 68 amps @12v into my 24v house battery from the start battery. Unfortunately, the alternator has a built in regulator and only puts out 27.4v at the alternator, fine for the 2 x 12v Fullriver batteries I'm using as start batteries, but by the time that reaches the house battery some 4 mtrs away, the best I've seen is 14 amps and that slows to maybe 5 amps when the battery reaches 27v ... I'm looking for 28v at bulk amps to get the batteries back up faster, it would still take 6 hrs driving if the house battery was drawn down to 0% SOC, all 260 Ah used, but 20% SOC to 70% SOC would only require 3 hrs driving and that suits my hopeful driving pattern better .... I did say hopeful

Good morning everyone, its the shortest day of our southern hemisphere year toady. It's a bit cool here but not as cold as it has been. Might get some rain over the weekend, if we're lucky.
Our floors are all down now, so I guess I'll be refitting skirting and moving furniture for a few days now. Safe travels everybody. Have a top day.
Cheers
David

More investigation needed 😡
I can't read the error code 😡😡
I done some work around the home yesterday... changed the lock on the back door, stole one from the shed door as a temporary fix 😁
Interesting video Terry..
Nothing planned for today as yet.
Internet was a pain this morning.
Keep safe.
Bernie.
I've been out in the motorhome fiddling with the heater...I get a E 01 code...I have it running at the moment I put the battery charger on... batteries read 13.25v when it started.... comments...

Do this way and see the results.

BATTERY POWER E01 or E10

Low battery power can prevent your heater from starting. This is easily corrected if your vehicle is fitted with either a B2B charger or VSR (voltage sensitive relay/ split charge relay).

Start your vehicle engine, check your voltage on the heater controller, not anywhere else. Now start your heater watching this voltage. If it drops below 11.4v there is not enough power being delivered to your heater to allow a start. Remedy – provide more power! If power is not being delivered this would indicate either a B2B, VSR or Battery fault.

Hi Robert, I don't have a DC to DC charger... starting the engine won't do nothing.
Batteries were showing 13.01.
Because I'm home I can plug into 240v...I turned the battery charger on and it started on the second attempt...
Thanks.
Bernie.

Bernie,

Measure the voltage when glowing at the diesel heater connection plug . Not at the battery.
(And measure across the red and black wires. Not red and chassis)

This is prove or disprove a wiring/battery issue.
