Terry iridium plugs don't last 500000klms, most are guaranteed to last between 30000 to 50000 by the manufactures and they do have their problems, as many who use them in motor bikes will tell you.

As for petrol being better, why do all the trucks have diesel engines, according to my almost 50 years of driving big rigs, including my own 6 buses including a volvo with and 18 speed road ranger that did the Adelaide to Darwin run and cruised at 125kph, with 879000klm on the clock and drove that for 12 years and never touched the engine, sold it at 1300000klms and got a smaller bus. Diesels are highly superior to petrol engines for reliability, lower serving costs, pulling power and power to weight ratios. That's why every trucking and bus company have diesel vehicles and not petrol.

To me it looks like you've bought another lemon, might look nice, but crap under the pretty looks and going to be costly for the duration.

Good morning everyone.
Another slow day, the boss is feeling better 😊
I thought about mowing the lawn may think about it today as well 😁
Trying to read between the lines here regarding T1 and the winny methinks he's pulling our leg's about the condition of the engine. So I'm betting he won't have any problems driving it home... could be wrong tho...🤔🤔
Bit fresh this morning 11 heading to 27...we had a lot of wind yesterday.
I played around the hole in the motorhome filling the edges to give me some wiggle room for the bottom of the aircon, I have it up at the moment just to see how everything fits
And you know what's coming next.

It's bacon and eggs day 🙀

Keep safe everyone.
Bernie.

Good morning All. The weather report says mostly cloudy but we have a bright bkue sky with 12* and 16* forecast.

I'm not doing much while waiting for my hand to heal under the plaster cast which will be removed on Thurtsday, hopefully. Then I will have to get back to th MH door problem/task.
We went for a walk to the local school yesterday afternoon in order to cast our votes in the local council election, about 2 minutes required.

I don't know what your mechanical background is NP. I have over 50 yrs in the trade and worked in just about every part of the industry, big diesel engines are good for continuous operation and long haul heavy load work, they are crap at short run stop start operation.
The most efficient combustion cycle engine is the Wankel rotary engine, they get a bad wrap because they are rarely used in their efficient operating range of 75% load. The most efficient combustion engine is the gas turbine, but useless as a truck or car propulsion engine, but brilliant for aircraft, horses for courses.
Who is likely to drive their motorhome much more than 250,000kms? It's being used as a leisure vehicle, not a commercial venture and operated differently to a commercial vehicle. How far does the average commercial diesel engine travel in a yr? Now compare that to the average motorhome travel distance in a yr ......

The modern diesel engine doesn't stack up to the old diesel engine hype, ask any truck mob that went for the smaller capacity high power diesels when they first hit the market .... yes, they did the job ..... no they didn't last .....and yes, they were stuffed at the end of one use cycle, not rebuildable. Not many, if any, chose to refit the same small capacity high output diesel engine, they opted for the bigger capacity engine, fuel and servicing cost might have been more, but the bigger capacity engines didn't have to work as hard so they didn't flog themselves to death over the short term.

Here is an example of a modern diesel engine being torn down https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8SOzucCQi4 and a second one
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHzBZZkK5FY and yet another
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hp-pVi-8TDE ..... there are a lot on this blokes You Tube channel, none of them are high milage

Personally, I believe the internal combustion engine has had its time in the sun, the future is electric motors, the latest Kia EV9 even has switching from star to delta on the fly https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qeX9hznsiBU .... probably something Sparkie Dave will appreciate, was dreamed of for many moons, they have made it a reality
