As I find failed John Guest fittings, I will be replacing them with PEX "Sharkbite" mustard coloured hose and push connect fittings .... never had one blow out or leak .... certainly can't say the same thing about John Guest stuff
yeah, good luck with that! Different sizes to begin with. But then again, you could shave it down like the valve stems. Any update on the engine?
Bathurst is over for another yr, so back to cleaning the shrouded area of this valve. I was concerned that it could have been a piston strike, but seeing that teardown of the V8 version, I see there is a section of the head that forms a shroud around that side of the valve to redirect the inlet charge to the centre of the cylinder. That would also explain why that section of the valve has rubbish trapped under it .....

It will be good to see the return of a factory based team to Bathurst .... but the 12hr is a much better representation of road car racing ...... still very impressed to see all the engines survive a full race at full pace, too late to transfer that to the car market though ..... I wonder if the world moving to EVs will enhance the race to see the old dinosaurs battle it out ... or if the complete separation from road cars will kill the appeal ....

Well they did have that electric Ford Transit van a year or so back as a demonstration vehicle. Maybe if they made a
S model Tesla with a quick change battery that might spark a bit of interest in electric vehicle racing. A lot of people I know have crossed over to TA2 racing and the other series' that Garry and Barry are promoting.
I also think that there is s bunch of old farts, me included, that would like to see the old big bangers and stuff get more TV time.

I would have thought the fact they ran on mostly ethanol these days would have turned the "petrol heads" off watching them race ..... it's not like nitro methane eh

Some great videos on You Tube about running an engine on straight ethanol and watching the power difference compared to pump fuel .... then gradually increasing the percentage of nitromethane into the ethanol .... it will mix with alcohol-based fuels, but not mineral based fuels like petrol ...... as long as they can keep the fuel supply up to the engine demand, they just pump out more and more power until either the rods fail or the crank comes out the bottom ..... the most spectacular blow ups are in dyno rooms, the car just on a roller dyno usually runs out of fuel or the transmission throws in the towel .....

They still sound the same, pretty much. All the 410 sprintcars run on methanol and have done for years. Might use up to 3 times as much fuel for more than twice the power. No nitro involved, and they are much more fun to watch than a supercar procession .

Oh yes David , raises the hair on my back just thinking about them ....
I was part of a pit crew for my mate's Grand National car for a number of years back in the 80's.
Great times

You are assuming there is no Nitro involved .... but how would you know? Do they do fuel sampling after each race?
I still think drag racing is the best thrill per sec motor sport, the heavier the fuel load, the greater the sound and feel .... but there is nothing like the feel of a top fuel launch .... power that you can feel through the chest and really, through the ground as well .... literally breath-taking

I agree about the top fueler launch, but they don't run all that often.
Most clubs do spot checks at big shows but there aren't too many outfits with a budget that can afford the engine maintenance that nitro requires. It's expensive enough to run a team. as it is without the cost of a couple engines.
A 410 putting out maybe 900 horsepower only last about a dozen shows without a full rebuild, without adding nitro to the mix.
