Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

damm, I've misplaced my tin hat.
Was that the thing I used to clean up some rusty tools using phosphoric acid? It leaks a bit now, might have been aluminium and not tin after Jon ;)

The gas is for when the battery might be a bit low after a few days of wet weather .... although, the element is 1500w, the air fryer is 2400w, then there's the rooftop rattler, electric jug, toaster, coffee machine and milk frother etc If the hot water, rooftop rattler and any of the 2400w appliances all decided to power their heating elements at the same time ..... even the 5000va Victron inverter might struggle ;)

Anyway, with both the electric element and the gas running at the same time, it should be a short heating cycle for the 23 ltr capacity :D

We have a Suburban same as yours except gas only. Takes about 15-20 mins to heat up. If the tank doesn't leak then why replace it. Ours has the hole (plugged) for the electric element. 1,1/4 " BSP I think. I was going to find some suitable element and fit that and dump excess solar into it.
But I need to upgrade the solar first. I'll get around to it one day, I hope.
Cheers

We have a simple, instantaneous gas heater, turn the tap on and it fires up.

If you mean the one in your bus George, that one is completely and utterly illegal and was when the inspector passed it all those yrs ago. They can only be mounted outside, not inside the living area .....

Under the reset plastic cover, is there one pair or two pair of thermostats" Looking into the outside heater compartment, the DC thermostats are to the right and the AC thermostats are to the left with an earth wire under the reattaining nut. You could operate the 240vac side via a switch inside the motorhome to avoid the fight with the spiders etc to get to the on/off switch mounted under the gas solenoids.
The 240vac side of our unit is powered by a lead wired to a plug and the power point is inside one of the drawer compartments, so the drawer has to come out to turn it off.
The fact it doesn't have it's own breaker switch in the power box as well as the air conditioner and each circuit for the GPO points up each side of the motorhome, just adds to the mystique of how these things ever got electrically certified ......
