From my sister
Don’t know if this is of any interest to you and the camping mob. xxx

We were looking for somewhere to stay with the dogs to break the journey between Armidale and Canberra. Unfortunately, despite being members of DNSW (and contributing to the upkeep of the grounds via the entry levy) casual camping by country members is still not permitted on the Orchard Hills grounds outside of show weekends. So, we were very happy to be welcomed with open arms to Morriset showgrounds, and implored by the caretaker to both come again and let others know that camping is not only permitted but it is encouraged. Apparently the camping income will contribute to the upkeep of the showground. There is plenty of room for large rigs, good lawn (not just mowed grass) and the amenities are currently undergoing renovation (to a high standard). Cost is $20 per night for powered site and bookings are available via the Morriset showground website.

This comment as well!

Apparently to boost small town incomes a number of RSL clubs now have caravan and camping facilities to encourage people to their area. All apparently are dog friendly

Morriset Show Ground is within walking distance of the town & railway station where you can catch a train to Sydney, markets at the S.G. Once a month.

Even better, if you are planning a stay at Morriset showgrounds, you may even catch me flogging my wares. This weekend I am at Mannering Park Public School Fete on Saturday. Anybody wanting to buy special presents, come on up, down around, whatever! I am sure that I would do my best to drop into the showgrounds if you (any forum people that is) were to stay there!
