Re: Good morning daily
The first one was a cash job with my eye specialist, pick the date about 6 weeks out from the needles in the eyes, $1,000 up front and the task was done by someone I trusted.
The second was at the Royal Adelaide Eye Clinc, across the road from the hospital, took 2 1/2 yrs between the first visit to determine that I did actually need the op ... I think they were waiting for the frustration to become all to much and I'd opt to pay for the second one as well ..... but I stuck it out
just as professional job but with a lot more nurses
The follow up appointment was a7:30am at the hospital itself the next day
the patch etc was off within an hr or so, then a 3 hr wait to find enough specialist doctors to do the signing off part ..... I think they did over 30 ops in the one day, so the next day, the waiting area was overflowing and interpreters were getting panicky because the had appointments across town that they were booked for, yt couldn't just up an leave the client they were with and no one who spoke their language ...... some of the older more experienced interpreters stepped up and gathered all the similar language people into their group so they ad someone they could talk to as well as being able to go in with each of them when their doctor trip came up .... the difference the added yrs of experience makes, the mother hen nes were all retired and did it for the extra money and helped fill inthe day
My follow up appointment is 12 May, not gunna happen, so I'll get my specialist to do it when he does the nedles in the eyes in April .....

Re: Good morning daily
They won't do both at once, the risk of complications is still there and to blind someone completely is not a risk they are willing to take, I would have happily paid up the $2,000 to have both done at the same time, the business was still up and running then so the money wasn't really the issue .....Greynomad wrote: ↑Sat Mar 15, 2025 4:16 pm RnB,
I had my cataract surgery more than 20 years ago.
They were privately funded as I had abandoned health insurance once I got my cancer diagnosis. Public hospital care (without a gap payment) was identical to what my insurance offered WITH a gap payment! Same hospital (Royal Melbourne). Even the same doctors.
So, given that I would be up for a couple of thousand dollars per eye, I planned to have one eye done immediately and wait a month to get the other eye fixed.
The difference the surgery made to that eye was so incredible, the day after surgery I phoned the surgeon and booked my second operation ASAP. One week later I had the second eye surgery.
The surgeon’s secretary said this was a common experience.
SO…
My recommendation is that you book yourself in to have BOTH eyes done on the same day.
You’ll need a driver to bring you home.
And I didn’t experience any pain.
I had no eye patches or the like, just eye drops for a few days. Driving again after 2 days (eye test at local optometrist to confirm visual acuity for VicRoads & change licence to remove the requirement for glasses).
All in all, a very positive experience.
Go for it!

Good morning everyone.

That was the only big thing I got up to yesterday, I done some fiddling in Carol's potting shed requiring a hammer and nails... easy peasy...
We are doing a quick trip to the big smoke this morning more about that tomorrow
...
And as everyone knows it's bacon and eggs day
Keep safe.

Re: Good morning daily
Good morning everyone. It's a pleasant 23⁰ here on the GC now, heading for a top of 29. Just watching the Gran Prix, and it's raining in Melbourne this morning. Dunno that I'd want the 42⁰ of Mannum.
We spent most of yesty putting stuff back into place and clearing storm debris. Most of the front is done now. The back might get a turn later today.
I hope that you enjoyed your b&e Bernie.
It's time to walk Bandit now.
Have a top day everybody, safe travels.

The surgery gave me the choice of one-at-a-time or both on the same day.

Re: Good morning daily
Hi. Today was a bit better. Only got to 27deg. Rained for about 2 hours this morning and I thought at one time the drops on the pavers might even join up but not quite. Windy and dusty at the moment. Got all the mowing done and a bit of pruning. Will get serious tomorrow and start on some of the bigger trees. Cheers

Good morning.
Yesterday's trip to the big smoke ended up being a no sale..
Old mate had a auto sat nav for sale cheap as...$240..
But... always a but...
He didn't have the card for the vast box so I said no sale and left...we then went and seen the little red head and her new car... that took about an hour... We left and were going to see one of her brothers who rents our sons place...on the way there...old mate ring's and said I could have it for $140...so I said I would come look again... this time I really went over it..
The twit had cut all the wires off... including the one from the control box to to auto rotating bit which had about 7 or more of those skinny wires...so I offered him $100 which he declined... so we continued our trip to grandsons home... spent about an hour there...then off home...
That was sunday dune and dusted...
Keep safe.
