Good morning daily

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Sorry Dave.

Terry made the comment that they didn't have a licence at all.

That would put the company and it's directors in the firing line for industrial manslaughter chargers if a death occured.

Good point, should have said a proper Aust approved tested licence ..... Can't see why anybody should be able to drive on Aust roads without ever passing a test, we don't even drive on the same side of the road as the Chinese ..... it could be argued that the Indian's drive on any side of the road that suits them ....
How would an Aust official even know if the O/S licence was actually the result on the holder ever passing a test to get it?

Imagine? .....
When Julian did his world wide trip if he had to do a license test in each country he traversed?

When I came back to Oz in 1989 I of course had my NZ license also my Australian (out of date license) but I still had to do the written section before I got the OZ one reinstated.

And you don't think that would have been the right thing to do? Some of the countries are tiny, no idea if they have the same rules or even drive on the same side of the road .... after riding with Greek and Italian taxi drivers through Sydney and Brisbane, I don't think they have road rules at all

Terry, you are aware aren't you, that any international tourist / traveller / itinerant worker can legally drive in any state of Australia using whatever licence that they hold in their country of origin.
I don't think it should apply for any type of Heavy Vehicle accreditation either. Driving a semi on any of our highways is a bit different to driving a lorry in Europe or Asia.
I've been to Egypt and China and the traffic is way different to what happens here.

Sorry Jon, I didn't mean to add you in to that quote, but it's a bit difficult sometimes editing when it's a quote of a quote.

I've been to a few places too.

The most petrified I've ever been was in a people mover van driven by the SiL on an expressway in Tokyo. She was doing 80 and the crazy trucks were doing 100 plus barrelling down behind us. Absolutely frightening, as they tried to maneuver around us.

The next time, we went by train. I refused to get in the car.

I think NZ drivers could qualify like Jd's experience Oh but NZ is now full of those countries and their driving sounds the same.

I have done quite a few trips around London and Manchester cities in double decker buses over the last couple of weeks and have found it amazing how the drivers can squeeze thru very small gaps in the traffic.

As a teenager I was a bit of a tearaway on the roads.
(I’ve toned it down a lot since then.)
However, I’ve NEVER been as frightened on the roads as I was in a minivan on a private tour in Bali.
They don’t have road laws. They have recommendations!
Not all of which are observed.
Motorcyclists are even more daring/suicidal dodging in and out of the traffic.
😳
Regards & God bless,
