Started off nice and sunny this morning but now overcast and a very cold breeze. No rain and the bit we had a couple of days ago will soon dry out. Must find another project to do as I am getting bored again. Perhaps look at the Yamaha RD 350 again but finding parts for it is a problem and SA hasn't got anybody to do the chrome now. Cheers John

Good morning everyone, again. Looks like I operator errored again. We are at Mulwala now. Parked out on the road. The yard is still way too wet to get in. Yesty was cold, wet, windy and miserable. Today doesn't look much better.
I like the deck George. You can come to our place and redo ours, if you like.
John, I used to have an RD350 about 45 years ago. Mine was the last of the rear drum brake models, can't remember if it had a disc or drum on the front.
Save travels everybody, try to stay warm if you can.

When I had my first Norton 750 Commando, a mate had a 650 Triumph Bonneville and the other mate had a 250 Suzuki Hustler ..... that was a tad modified. The 250 barrels and pistons were replaced with over bored and ported 315cc units from the 350 Suzuki, so maybe 325cc, 6 sp gearbox .... and that thing moved.
We did a 3 day weekend run to Ballina from Wollongong, no freeways back then, every time I checked the rear view mirrors, an exercise in futility on a British bike, but there was a certain throttle position you actually see something other than a blur, there was Ray, right on my tailight, and Garry some distance back on the Bonnie, even up around 100 mph mark, Ray was still there, Garry was dropping back in the distance.
It must have been exhausting, riding that little bike that hard, but Ray seemed to take it all in his stride.

Miss that Norton, and the Bonnie I later owned, but not as much as the Norton, loved that bike .....

Mate of mine had one. Thashed it as super high speeds.

Got caught by a copper and he went nuts. Swore black and blue at him because he was going so fast. His argument was; those exhaust pipe don't go white unless you're doing over 180+k's. His were very white!!

RD350 has twin front discs. 250s had single. (blue v red too)

ooops, I might be thinking of the RZ350

The one I had was the same as this air cooled '75 model from memory. Hated it, 2 power bands and the back brake had a tendency to lock up in the wet. Had a XS650 after that one.

You chaps were spoilt!
I had a bsa bantam that I rode to various shearing sheds I worked in as a teenager just outta school.
125cc & left the usual 2stroke smoke trail.
Many a time I arrived at the shed with ice hardened eyebrows!!

Rode a TZ version that was sort of road legal, had full wet weather race tyres that had tread from the edge of the rim but stood out so far the rear forks were modified .... well, single sided actually, only one fork leg mono shock, the front triple tree was wider and housed bigger tubes and full gas controlled damping.

The thing came into the bike shop I was a mechanic at for a short time on Bexley Rd in Sydney .... absolutely terrifying power and handling .... was the young kids daily ride for uni, he also raced another even scarier version for our parent dealership in Hurstville ..... I doubt any cop would catch you on that thing, especially if a corner was involved .... even more frightening than a fully ported 812cc Suzuki water bottle and that was fast

Same as mine. That power band does catch you out some times.
