Another very late Good Morning from me. I've been to see the physio this morning. Maybe I'll get a bit more movement in the back after I do a lot more muscle strengthening and some rotational exercises. Sitting in a plane for a day or so, while the back isn't good, wasn't very clever. But there weren't too many options.
Bernie, we await the insurance company accepting the open ended quote for the repairs. Nobody knows how bad anything really is, til the old Dometic 3 way is removed.
Jon, it looks like you'll be a busy boy at some point soon.
I hope everybody is having a happy hump day.
Safe travels
Good morning daily

It will depend on how far the repairer wants to look to determine the extent of the damage. Often, if the assessor can't see a clearly defined end to all the heat affected zone, they will write it off to be on the safe side ........ they have to warranty all repairs for the future life of the vehicle, if they call it a repairable or total write off, they are cleared of that responsibility ......supersparky wrote: ↑Wed Nov 19, 2025 2:06 pm Another very late Good Morning from me. Terry, at this point the repairer is fairly certain that they won't write off a $100k vehicle for maybe a $20k repair. But if they do, we'll deal with that if it happens. They are more than a bit difficult to get on the phone. I was on hold yesty for 45 mins. Today, Terrie had 2 attempts, first one 45 mins, second try an hour or so later 65 mins. Still no answer and no offer of a call back.
Cheers

Insurance wrote off a $160,000 motorhome with "water damage" as the reason, the $160,000 is what they insured it for this time, might have been more when it was paid out last time .....supersparky wrote: ↑Wed Nov 19, 2025 3:50 pm Terry, at this point the repairer is fairly certain that they won't write off a $100k vehicle for maybe a $20k repair. No idea how much the owner before me paid for it at auction as a repairable write off, but I got it for $83,000, so I figured there was enough value still in it to repair what ever needed repairing ...... might be a possibility with your rig, buy back or demand the return of the vehicle as part of the settlement, then repair it

Terry, are you saying that your 2003 Winnebago is currently insured for $160k, or have I mis-read something.
Cheers

Yeah, Ken Tames would you believe ..... Didn't need to rejoin the CMCA or anything like that ..... asked and the young lady said it made so little difference to the premium it wouldn't cover the cost of CMCA membership .....supersparky wrote: ↑Wed Nov 19, 2025 6:07 pm Terry, are you saying that your 2003 Winnebago is currently insured for $160k, or have I mis-read something.
The Fuso was older and they were prepared to cover it for $160,000 if we had a tracker installed and it was parked in a lock up facility, that was APIA, we would have insured with them again but Margaret was worried they might refuse and that then makes it difficult to get another insurance mob to cover us .....

Re: Good morning daily
Tried to find another one to compare the price .... at the moment, they seem to be unobtainium ...... but when we bought Winnie, the other one we were looking at was $176,000 ..... the pusher diesel one we saw in Jugiong they had just bought for $250,000, but it was a nice looking rig, rear engine .... but a diesel, so underpowered in comparison, that became abundantly clear when we caught up a few car lengths and then over took them not long before the Barton Hwy Canberra turn off on a long climb .... it was belting out the black diesel smoke, so he was going hard
