EerWeGoAgen Departs Sept 1st 2013

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

Dot, Most of that cotton and rice is not destined for the Australian market. Nearly all of it goes off shore. They just need some ground to grow it on.
Cheers

Yes great isn't it!! All that water thrown into growing cotton and rice, most of which goes off shore, whilst meanwhile our farmers in the Riverland are walking away from their fruit blocks and 100year old orchards are being left to die due to their water allocations being slashed. And then Adelaidians are put on tight water restrictions.

Last time we were on high level water restrictions, we saw kilometre after kilometre of open irrigation channels, full to the brim in Victoria and so many places and towns watering with sprinklers on poles spraying water everywhere.

Criminal is the only way you can describe it.

Glad you and George are having a fantastic holiday :D
Can't wait to catch up with you both when you get back, we have missed our impromptu drop ins to see you both

Yep, the Chinese use human waste as fertiliser.....at least they did when I lived in China. But the human waste doesn't yet have as much antibiotics and hormones in it as western people.

Oh and if you get anything dried from there...I've seen it with my own eyes...they lay out the corn and fruits ON THE ROAD, so the chemicals, etc., that make up the Tarmac leeches into the food.

Another thing I didn't know til recently when I went on a tour of a gin, the seeds from the cotton after harvesting cannot be planted to grow more cotton, because it's been genetically modified and is barren. And the tour guide said it's the same with other crops! I've got a photo of the mountain of seeds.

Depressing eh.

As for the water situation....I so agree...having spent time house sitting on the Murray.

Anyway, you guys, enjoy the rest of your trip

Hugs
Dee and the cranky one

How about a big pot of veggie soup and mixed fruits pie?
They don't want it if you have cooked it or frozen it, so go for it and have a big batch of cooking. have fun.

What a day, I wet the bed (so to speak) up early to beat the heat headed off before the caravan  Got to the border check point, nice lady come inside and wants to look in the fridge, all good, all cooked up etc so I being the good girl that I am (sometimes) asks about Miss Meow's cat grass that was in soil from home and hadn't been out of the bus and she said that was ok as we bought it from SA and going back to SA  :? :? :? Now confusion sets in.. If you buy a carrot or what ever in SA go to Vic and turn around and come home again why do you have to give them your carrot?? Guess they don't like eating cat grass then. Anyway, stopped for lunch but it was getting warm so put the geny on and ran the air con for miss Meow's comfort you understand.. Got home around the 4pm mark and the grass was nearly 2ft high in the paddock, strawberry plants lost in the greenery, weeds popping up all over the place but the roses, lavender, bottlebrushes and fruit trees all in bloom is beautiful. The house lawn really needed a mow as well. I got the ride on for the paddock job x 2 times around and G whipper snipped and mowed with the push mower. Then we opened the mail   You know that rental bond dispute hearing we came home for?? well it has been and gone, yep they decided "stuff you lot we shall do it on this date not when we suggested" and because we did not attend those stinking dirty smelly ones were awarded their bond back  I do have the email telling them we would be away until the 10th Oct and that is when the man said he would make the hearing for around the 15th Oct.. hmmmm not happy chappy I is not, those tenents cost us heaps.. Tomorrow will see a hot phone line with a call to state MP along with emails. Pays to be You put your own thoughts there or I would have to send myself a letter... Bloody hot still, done 2 loads of washing and staying in the bus tonight. Too knackered to even think of going inside.. Now the count down is on for my back op thingy at the end of the month 29th to be exact and I am soooooo looking forward to getting it done,, then watch out you lot.. :D ;)

Good to see you got home safe n sound. Bummer about the tribunal mob, would channel seven be interested maybe? Do your phone calls tomorrow and lots of luck with them, but remember that kharma will get them in the end. Hopefully in this lifetime

Maybe now is the time to concentrate on getting that back in tip top condition, so that you can really enjoy your next trip. xxx
