Terry I think it was the first one he ALMOST sold it to initially.

Karma really does work. The ex manager that was going to buy the joint, that pulled the plug at the last minute when he would have had his money back in 10 months, is dead.
Silly f*^*^$ was a gun nut, ran into his wife the other day, she told me he got his biggest one and put the barrel in his mouth and used his toe to trigger it. Just before the kids came home from school !
Fortunately they did not look past the open bedroom door so she found him when she got home half an hour after them.
Jeez, if you want to top yourself, go out in the bush somewhere, leave a note for the people that deal with this sort of shit on a daily basis, but why would you do this knowing your kids would most likely be the first to find you? Must have hated someone really badly !!

Re: Where's Bruce?
The most recent one was a developer, this whole area is changing rapidly, zoning has moved to transitioning, will be urban very shortly.
The sewerage infrastructure is the only holdup.
The developer wanted ours and the place we back onto, 18 acres in all.
We got more as the business would still run and pay them 100K a year rent, thus no holding costs. The people behind then decided they wanted the same rate, although no return to the developer until it happens, probably 3 years so it looks like he has lost interest but no problem, there are so many developers swanning around the right one will turn up eventually.
If we were to wait for housing it will be a while as we are furthest from the existing sewerage infrastructure, but the proposal was to build an over 50's village with it's own sewerage treatment plant, they allow this it seems as they can get the effluent so clean any excess is allowed to be discharged into the creeks system. Thus they can build quickly and then hook up to the sewerage when it gets here.
It is not dead with this guy, just sick.
It seems there is a huge demand for over 50 style accommodation, don't understand it myself I don't want to live wit a lot of old people !

Re: Where's Bruce?
The over 50 villages are so popular in this area, we have 6 villages, personally we would never live in one not our scene, a friend at bowls tells me that they whisper because the cottages are so close, just our opinion.

Re: Where's Bruce?
Our nearest neighbour is at least 70m from our windows... we can have a ding-dong bluey and no-one else notices!
(But we don't... well, not often!)
Only way either of us will leave our little piece of heaven is feet-first... on a slab...(and I'm not referring to beer!).
No way would we contemplate selling up for one of those little boxes.
Pete Seeger had it right: "...and they're all made out of ticky-tacky/and they all look just the same."

Good one Ray, each to their own some folk are very happy living in that environment & feel they have security etc., & of course they can get rent assistance if on a pension but give us our own piece of dirt any day, we feel same as you.
Think I would move into a CP to live before a village at least you could still move around.

Hi, all.
If moving into a retirement village find out first how much you will lose should you wish to move out.
Mrs shonky's mum bought into one six years ago for $115k and should she move out her refund is $75k. Seems many of them are owned by trading banks.

Re: Where's Bruce?
Well the developer did remark that they hang onto them, after building, and run them under management, they make so much money !
Me too, not for us, I could never live even in an ordinary suburban house now.
If happens will probably buy a few acres at Kilcoy or somewhere like that as a base and somewhere to park VP.
