The Pinsent Hotel in Wangaratta has excellent quality meals - and a seniors menu that seems to be just smaller serves of some of the main menu items.
Parking is a problem though... no on-site area, and angle parking in street (<6m only). Some shady spots around the corner by the river, IF you can find a vacancy to parallel park... and the kerb drops away something fierce, so sleeping might be a problem.
Might have to resort to a spot in
the local CP 
And use the toad if you have one.
Otherwise, in the general area, Corowa RSL also has excellent quality meals. And a reasonably level carpark.

It looks like the tunnel back country NSW that was hand cut out by convict labour...... at least I think it's back country NSW. Apparently you can drive a Coaster through the tunnel, with about a paper thickness gap either side
