Screwed by Telstra?

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

What point would that be? The story does point out the unsustainable nature of the ispONE business model and lays the blame for the cancelled contract firmly at the feet of ispONE. If you bump the story against the rant in the OP, the OP just becomes more laughworthy.

I have had many battles with Telstra incompetence over the years and have had to call on the ombudsman twice to sort out problems, which were only solved by his help. Even after his intervention, Telstra grudgingly fixed the problems.

However, I must say that they have improved over the last 12 months.

My 4G modem started to play up last weekend. I solved some of the problem by removing the battery for 10 seconds and it seemed to work again, but the battery kept going flat in a very short time.

I phoned Telstra / Bigpond who immediately took ownership of the problem and said it was not a battery problem but a problem with the modem. They confirmed my address and said a new modem would be dispatched that day (Wednesday) and should arrive Friday (today). They said they would phone me to check it arrived today. I received a text message on my phone Wednesday afternoon that the modem had been dispatched. This was at zero cost to me.

They then offered to pay me compensation for the loss of the modem. I declined, saying that it was still working, sort of, but I was not out of pocket over the problem.

I pinched myself after the phone call to make sure I was still awake.

I have not had service like that from any company for a long time!

Well - I take it all back!

The modem has not arrived - after receiving the text message "Dispatched today. You will receive in 3 -5 working days"

Today is day 8 working day.

So I phoned Telstra and asked where is my modem.

Too hard for the first bloke. Get passed onto a second one. Have to once again go through all the Name, address phone number, date of birth, did you have sex last night....

No - it has not been dispatched yet.

But I have a text message saying it was.

That doesn't mean anything.. That is just automatic when we should dispatch it. It doesn't mean we will.

So what do you do now?

Dispatch it

Today?

Yes.

Is this a real dispatch or just another automatic one that doesn't really mean you have?

No....

We'll see....

Paul, you have a way of dealing with the truth disabled that many of us would find difficult to maintain our self control  I believe Rodney Rude wrote a song about dealing with Telstra ;)

Terry
It is 18 months since I went through this with my first 4G modem (the one I have now that is faulty and needs to be replaced) at this same address! It took over a month to get it. Same story! But it got worse!

I am staying in a paddock at my brother's place outside of Millfield. All mail stops at the Post Office in Millfield as there is no delivery to his property.

After the month trying to get the package, I finally tracked it down that Telstra had sent it to the Post Office in Wollombi, where it had been waiting for me. This was after driving 20K into Cessnock (who tracked it down) then another 40k back to Wollombi and another 20k back to camp - a total of 80k, instead of the 5k from the property to the PO in Millfield.

I exploded on the phone and told Telstra that I could easily understand how they could confuse Wollombi with Millfield - "Turn the name upside down and using a mirror to read it, you could easily confuse the names...like, the 'M' turns into a 'W' and there two "L"s in each name and at least one 'i'..... anyone could make the same mistake..."

By the way - for those of you travelling in remote areas with iffy Telstra coverage, I purchased one of these 3G / 4G yagi type antennas for my modem. It certainly boosted my signal strength significantly. Keep in mind that most areas still have 3g so you need an antenna that does both 3 and 4G as they are widely different frequencies.

http://telcoantennas.com.au/site/rfi-12 ... gi-antenna

They also supplied 7m of cable with the FME female connector to plug my patch lead into. Since the modem is WIFI, when in use, I will just attach the modem to the 7m cable and the modem to the 12v cig lighter socket on the outside of the van for power. When not using the modem, for security, put it inside the van. Saves drilling a hole through a wall to put the lead through. It took them just 24 hours to deliver to the PO in Millfield from Brisbane!

My 4G modem started to play up two weeks ago and would not turn on for longer than 3 seconds. The battery had gone flat, even though it had been turned off all night. Ii would not charge. I remembered somebody saying to remove the battery for 10 seconds and try again. It worked, but went flat again overnight. So if you have a problem, try removing the battery to get it going again.

Glad you finally found where they had sent it to.... but weren't they sending another one yesterday?

With the battery, not only take it out, put it in a zip top sandwich bag and put it in the freezer overnight. It will require a recharge in the morning, but a few times through this proceedure will et some life back into the battery. Drill and chainsaw batteries also respond well to this charging method.

According to Telstra Technical, it's not a battery problem (It's a Lithium battery).

The modem is faulty, causing the problem. This is why they are sending me (one day) a new modem - not just a battery.
