Hey, I have been over there the past 2 years. Cheeky bugger. It certainly is a beautiful place though. I think a lot of people will be giving WA a miss till they pull finger on their silly no camping stance.

It WAS becoming a yearly event to go up to 40mile beach UNTIL the WA Gov or local councils decided they didn't want it to happen.

Let's say an overnight stop at Piangil, Vic.
Second overnight stop at Rankins Springs, NSW.
etc etc with others joining as the convoy progresses along the track?
Once each stop is settled on it can be made a one or two day stop & even nominate the date(s).

Local shire was the culprit. To be fair, the whole area was copping a flogging. I dont think it will change in a hurry though. I suspect Karratha and Port Hedland see tourism as the new iron ore, and will try to charge accordingly. A boycott may not be a bad thing, at least for a year or two....

I think that may be happening already Martin from the few people we spoke to. A real shame because it is a beautiful state, so much to see. Maybe in a year or two a tag along up the middle then over the west might be an idea so come on you WA peeps start plotting.

Certainly would be good for us up here in QLD not to have to travel south. Lake Elphinstone is really a nice large area.

I don't see it as a North vs South thing. Let's find out numbers for each venue, then have some time in your chosen location with those that can get there.

We will be heading Nth as soon as the verdict for the paedophile is in. His trial starts Aug 1st and is listed for 10 days but it may do the change plea thing to guilty on the first day of trial so we are in time limbo till then, Which ever way, we shall be heading nth so shall catch up somewhere with some of you.

We are staying in QLS this year so certainly hope to see someone somewhere! A great 2016 with safe travel to al of you out there.

Well, as our situation has changed & we are no longer 'house sitting' - that which never really occurred for the past 6 months - we will be in a position to attend the July gathering. As we are currently in FNQ, we intend to hang around this vicinity through the wet season - just because we can - so my vote has gone to Lake Elphinstone as those that are in a position to know are indicating this to be the better choice.
