Still more to see on the good roads than you will ever have time for.

Rob,
Do what we do: get a
Suzi Jimny for a toad.
(See avatar.-->)
That way you can park Wilbor in/near a NP and hare off in the little 4WD for a day's adventure.
We do it all the time.
More fun than sex!
Well, nearly.
And don't let people tell you the Jimny isn't a
real 4WD... we've been places the Big Boys can't get through. The Jimny is so light
(one tonne) that it
floats over the boggy/sandy bits, leaving only light tyre tracks, where the Big Boys with their muddies leave axle-deep excavations behind!
And no, I do
not receive a commission from Suzuki!

Ray, Do Suzuki still produce the Jimmy model ?

Yes, Ray, we tow a Grand Vitara to get about but not the same as Wilbor where you can actually get to the out of the way places and stay there. It wasn't a Land Cruiser but went everywhere we wanted to go. In low range it would walk up a wall

Huh!
Gone all
cushy, have we, Rob?
Grand Vitara indeed!
A bit heavier than the Jimny, but I guess I can approve your choice.
We'd probably upgrade, except we'd then have to upgrade our Tilta Trailer, 'cos the single-axle model has a weight limit of 1500kg.
Shirley,
Yes, they still produce the Jimny.
Slight body changes to the bonnet/grille area, but otherwise identical to our 2007 model.
Redesigned alloy wheel spiders
(noice!).
Oh, and the instrument panel now has bright-metal rings around the speedo & tacho.
Panel & console layout unchanged. Even retains the same stereo unit! (No USB or Bluetooth connections yet.)
And it's the same price as we paid in 2007!
Maybe we'll update to a new Jimny when
Jim the Junior Jeep passes 200,000km. (Now 162,000)

A mate of mine, a truck mechanic, gave the Isuzu a look over and said, "I don't want to be rude but this is going to outlast you."

The only thing I don't like about our Grand Vitara is the fuel consumption. It's a 2002 model but only done about 160k. I made a boo boo in getting the V6 me thinks, I got better out of an XR8

but it only weighs about 1450 kg so that's ok. I am about to fit a 150w solar panel to the roof rack. Twice now the battery has been flat after towing for a couple of days. My invisible brake is supposed to charge the toad battery through the parking light circuit. Leaving the key in the ignition is using a bit more power than I thought it would
