Re: Holding your grey water
My grey and black water tanks are old truck fuel tanks, free and can be set up easily to vent etc as they have quite a few outlets of various sizes. When and if they rust out, have a few more for replacements. So far the grey water tank has been in a few years and shows no signs of rusting, black water only one years as it replaced and much smaller one. The air bleeders on them make really good vents that you can place at the back of the bus and get no smells, by the time the gas gets that far it seems to have lost it's pungency. Thought it would smell in the back bedroom when parked, but its doesn't.

Re: Holding your grey water
That is the general idea, I've made a pipe to run from one end to the other with small holes drilled to allow a small stream of bubbles to stir through grey water then vent out a roof high pipe. Probably only run the air pump during the day and solar power it. The bonus should be a clean flush each tank drain as the solids should not collect on the bottom/sides but rather break up through the water and discharge with the grey water.JohnM wrote:T1 stated,I wonder how a small aerator from a live bait tank, or fish tank, would goAir circulated through the water does get rid of the pong before it ever getting started as it feeds oxygen into the bacteria that eat the smell producing stuff, it is the bacteria that lives in the absence of oxygen that creates the stink.
The purple bottle of drain enzymes' sold in Bunnings as drain cleaner would have a similar action as it bubbles up and releases oxygen through the water much like the generic nappy wash does for the black water, but the drain cleaner also has stuff to eat the fat etc that starts the smell process and that is the base component of soap, that is why even shower water stinks if held for a while.

And most of these drain cleaners are death sentences to septic systems. There are numerous dump points around the land that are septic systems.

Yes, each work in opposite directions so the chemical free alternative is the better choice, although the percarbonate and I believe the purple bottled drain cleaner enzymes are marked septic safe, but certainly worth double checking.Wilbor wrote:And most of these drain cleaners are death sentences to septic systems.
