How often are you getting out and about now Paul.
I guess the trips were 'put off' for a while, are they back on the agenda yet ?

Re: For all you older buggers out there...
At the ripe old age of 61 I've lived the longest of any in my immediate family, all died in hospital so I'm determined I'm not going there too often
The plan is to live for ever, so far so good and it's not for lack of opportunity for an early termination so maybe the say that only the good die young could have some truth to it
Had one scare trip to the hospital at around the 40yr old mark, severe stabbing pains around the left tit and down the left arm a day after a rather stressful night of security at the teenage daughters end of school party. They put the wiggly line machine on me with all the sticky patches, all good, turned out to be torn muscles as a result of escorting a young gentleman out of the party area without opening the side gate, seems I didn't let go quick enough as he start the decent on the other side
Between that and holding my german shepherd back from snacking on another attempted gate crasher the body reckoned I should think seriously about attempting to do things I did in my twenties and thirties now that I was in my 40's

Just got word today that my best mate that I grew up with passed away today. Not expected..
So when we get the funeral details we will be off to Sydney. Not a trip I'm looking forward to.
Bernie.

Had to cancel a planned trip to Port Macquarie, Grafton and Illaroo Beach (Yuraygir National Park) in February.Lance wrote:How often are you getting out and about now Paul.

Went out to dinner (for the first time in two months!) at the local pub last night! Could only drink one beer! They also have free entertainment from performers taking part in the Tamworth Country Music Festival. Got tired by 8:30 and came home.
Can't go caravaning for another 2 months as I am not allowed to pick up much more than about 6 kilos per arm. Started cardio rehabilitation at the Tamworth Hospital last week and go in every Monday.
I exercise every day - only short walks now but getting a bit longer every day. I have an incentive to walk up the hill near home to visit several neighbours who will give me a cup of tea and a biscuit if I make it!
But we do intend to travel in our van to North Queensland, to Mackay to visit grandkids and further north to Townsville and Cairns about end of June early July. We will bush camp most of the way and take it real easy. Right now I can't stand feeling a seatbelt across my chest, as my sternum and ribs are still very painful, but that is slowly diminishing.
Best bit is I am still alive!

Re: For all you older buggers out there...
Age is an interesting concept, sometime i think it is all in the mind, then you realise it's all in the body when ti doesn't perform like a 25 year old any more. Got sick of feeling like crap and struggling to get through a 3 hr gig last year, so decided to make some changes and the results have been really good, We played last night at a function and they wouldn't let us stop, threw a couple of hundred bucks at us to do another 30 minutes which turned out to be an hour and today, was up at 6 and ready to go.
It was so funny, these out of it women kept coming up and offering us $50 to play Gary Moores "still got the blues for you" over and over, played it 3 times during the night and refused to take their money. So they tried to buy us drinks and we had to decline, as we stopped drinking grog in the middle of last year and it has turned out to be the best things I've done for decades. Great gig though, it's always nice to have an audience that likes the music we like to play, rocking blues. So we got to do everything we liked for the night and that makes a huge difference to the performance and reception you get.
