Following on , as I said a week back the water pump shite its self while away...
I had a spare pump same as what was on the van .
I just connected the spare pump to the van..and I filled both tanks. front tank almost full rear tank empty..
Turned the power on and opened a tap...only the front tank tap open...no water just splutter .
Turned the front tank off and turned the rear tank on...bingo....all is good with the world....but...
When then turned to sink tap off...water stopped flowing...but...the pump is doing the same as the one I removed , its not completely off just running very softly like only a hum..
Obviously the front tank isn't delivering water....but that is minor to the problem with the humming.
I do have a power isolating switch for the pump .
OK learned forum folk any ideas ???? help...

I guess you have taken the hose off at the pump and opened the front tank tap to see if water is flowing to the pump. The most common problem I see on caravans and some motorhomes is the tank supply hanging down, then up over the chassis rail and connected to the floor from there on to the pump which is often even higher than the tank top inside a cupboard. About the only way to prime the pump with a supply set up like that is to open the front tank tap and the sink tap, turn the pump on and pressurise the problem tank by using a hose into the filler with a rag used around the hose to stop the water just belting back out the filler. One the vapour lock is cleared, the pump can pull the water through. A fix I have seen is a "T" junction in the supply hose, a hose fitting mounted up under the body with a tap to open or close that "Teed" off hose. Same deal, turn the pump and the sink tap on as well as the tank supply tap and plug the hose into the fitting so pressure can be applied to the supply hose in both directions. When the pump and the tap start running correctly, turn the tap off and wait for water to pour out the overflow. Then turn the hose tap off, disconnect the hose and all should be well with the world again. Many manufacturers recommend this as the primary filling method so these type of problems go away fairly easily.

I cant find a leak anywhere on any of the pipes...I have renewed the plumbing from the tanks to the pump single pipes no joins from the tanks to the pump...still pump not turning off ?? Its starting to do my head in

is the hws pressure release valve opening?
When my pump wasn't turning off, the pressure release valve was venting.
