Dunno how far you've got Dave, but of you are still en route to Undara Lava Tubes there is a chance our paths might cross. If so we'd be happy to dogsit Bandit for you. We are currently at Adels Grove (Lawn Hill) until about the 15th or 16th of September (washing dishes whilst waiting for a friend to arrive on the 13th or 14th). We will then head east across the gulf to be at our next house sit near to Daintree Village by 1st October.

Bruce, It wasn't work that we raced back for. That is over for me now.
It was to watch both Gkids play in their footy grand final, in the same team. Unfortunately they lost but not many kids get the opportunity to play footy on same ground as their idols do. Big city stadium. Their dad was team manager, so a family thing all around. Do it again in a heart beat.
And SWMBO was beginning to show signs of heat stress, but she'll never admit it.
And we broke the awning.
And the bl**dy fridge was playing up. (did I ever tell you that I hate absorbtion fridges)
Cheers

Watching them play on the big ground was a memory that we will cherish, but the photos look like ants on a sugar cake.
We have a quote for the repairs to the awning and replacement fabric. Not much change out of $1,100. Nothing is cheap when you say motorhome or caravan is it.

I know someone who can replace that with a proper household inverter fridge and inverter to suit while you are having the solar and batteries sorted ........ just thought I'd mention that :D

What damage on the awning? You can replace the canvas part fairly easily and you can often find a good second hand arm left over from someone else's insurance job. Naturally, if it is an insurance claim, go the whole hog, but be sure to ask for the old awning to be kept for you to collect when you pick the motorhome up.

The problem with the awning was that a cast aluminium bracket broke, which allowed one end to unravel at great speed. The other end stayed where it was and the result was a U/s awning cover. Winding it back in and securing it, to be able to travel home was fun.I was lucky enough to get a s/h bracket off our local bloke and we now await a new cover. We will get a center support fitted when they replace the cover as I suspect that is what caused the bracket to fail.
The main issue with the fridge replacement is finding one that will fit into the existing cabinetry without major mods. I may have found a 12v compressor fridge that might do the job, but need to check a few more things.
