Thanks Ian, I just thought getting legal eagles on their tail with the firm understanding, drag it out and you won't get paid at all, might speed them up. There are a lot of groups on the interweb who have had poor treatment by NRMA, maybe getting volcal behind some of those might help .... NRMA is still trying to get accepted in South Australia after taking over SGIC who had a good reputation ..... If we'd known NRMA had taken over all their insurance, we would have switch companies well before anything happened ... this is the 4th time we've had to deal with NRMA and each time it is an unpleasant experience resulting in less than a positive outcome .....

When I was 19yo I was a member of NRMA and had a breakdown in my car, they wouldn't help so I cancelled my membership and haven't given them a cent since.

I'm guessing they are the EVE LFP cells ...... The down side of the solid plastic mats is the don't allow for cooling between the cells. or any exit path for the heat at all. Probably not a problem if the current draw is low and recharge rate is also low.
I'll be drawing something like 450 amps out of these cells at times, still less than 1C I know, but ...... I really don't know much at all about sodium Ion cells, so I'd like to be able to do temp measurements between the cells and cell groups at different loads and charging rates.

No one has any data on this chemistry, much like no one knew anything much about LFP when I started developing the operating regime required for long life from that chemistry back in July 2011.

Someone has to do the science, I can't write papers and books based on what I've read on the interweb like someone we all know

We started working out lifep04 back in 2006, the plan we came up has so far worked and after 18 years, my portable pack still holds 100% and same with the house set which is 17 years old, still 100%. Surprised the 3 cells that have never been charged or used, still hold 100% after 18 years and have noticed they are now claiming shelf life of lifepo4, or LFP of 20 years.

From what I've read Terry, sodium ion cells have life spans of 10 years, but we won't know that until some in use have reached that age and someone has worked out the best charging and discharging regime for them.

I'd be pushing NRMA with legal threats, these insurance companies have a habit of trying to cheat people.

What, an insurance company not being as honest as the day is long ... how can you suggest such a thing NP ...

I must add though, Zurich and APIA were very good and paid up in a reasonable time frame .... but NRMA, they just can't help themselves, it's like they feel they must try to do the client out of something ..... the 3rd party accident insurance wasn't even coming out of their money, it is a separate account that all the NSW 3rd party insurance feeds into, it has an enormous amount of money available, yet they went out of their way to screw me over and dragged it out for 20 yrs hoping I'd give up or something ......

The sodium ion battery is installed in the battery box.
Looks a bit agricultural I know, but 600Ah useable beside 200Ah useable. The 2 x 6v 600Ah batteries weigh roughly the same as 1 of the Full River deep cycle 100Ah lead acid batteries .....

Next is the cabling sorted so the lead acid batteries can come out to make room for the 5kva Victron inverter and the 250vdc 100amp MPPT solar controller.
Then all the battery management control goes in, the cabling to the new inverter and solar controller and DC to DC charger (that I can't find where I put it) go in and the old 3kva inverter can come out of the other bin ..... that will make a lot more storage room because that bin has a through shelf to the other side (it's blocked off at that end because the LPG tanks are on the other side.

EDIT: Just for reference: The 600Ah @ 12v Sodium ion is 450mm long x 360mm wide. The Full River battery is 350mm long and the two side by side with battery hold down clamps is 420mm wide. The photo shows the 600Ah pack is roughly the same width as the 100Ah battery is long, and the 600Ah battery length is close to the width of 2 x 100Ah deep cycle batteries with clamps

My lithium pack 24v 290ah is 320x350mm.

I'm quite curios to see the voltage discharge curve. And, whether it affects the available capacity.

YES Naturally Margaret drove home .....and up the Chain of Ponds road, so as you can imagine, it was tried out for performance .... big smiles and says she doubts she could even go back to a hybrid now I drove the Ford home, so not a chance of catching her once she got a head start .....
Our new MG4 is the Excite 51 LFP battery, so the poverty pack version, used 30% out of the battery coming home so there was still 235km remaining .... not sure if that was based on her driving or my driving coming home from the community club
