Finally reached the stage of getting the inverter out of it's box and that looks a tad longer than I'd looked up on the interweb. Sure enough, it's 700mm longer than the height I have available in the battery compartment
On to the Victron website ....... the 12/5000 Multiplus isn't listed, it a 24/5000 and that was what was what I installed in the Fuso ...... the 12/5000 is a Multiplus II, and they are thinner, but longer When Margaret asked our supply agent for a 12/5000 Multiplus, they supplied what was available in the 12/5000 Multiplus range the newer Multiplus II .......
There is enough extra on the bottom of the case that could be cut off ..... but that may affect the warranty a tad, the alternative I've come up with is:
A) Cut a hole in the floor larger than the inverter width and depth
B) Feed the inverter up through the hole, then lay it semi diagonally in the area available
C) Reattach the floor under the 40 x 40 steel support members to increase the total height available to 6500mm, still 200mm short of what is needed, but the angle will not be a so great and it will give room for air flow and the install the wiring ...... hopefully

At least it gives me an idea about how to fit the washing machine

Terry, I'm an ideas person..... If you had a trailer with a box on it, maybe, it could fit in that. But make sure you measure the box and trailer first.

I think I'll head up to Bernie's and watch the grass grow.

Our lawn and roadside verge were mown last Saturday and I had to mow them again today. We have been getting rain and hot sun every day for the last 6 months.

But Jon, the box has to come off to fit the MG ...... and the weight of the inverter and the batteries would certainly put it over the legal limit ....... maybe I should make of those slide out sections that they park the car in on the big rigs in the US, then I'd have plenty of room on the trailer .... you really are an ideas person Jon

If time wasn't the issue, the Prius on the Gypsy trailer worked well ..... a few mods and the Blade on the Gypsy trailer would have given me a full EV for around the same money ...... Coulda-shoulda-woulda require hindsight, and that part doesn't focus real well lately .... but we did buy our first ever new car ..... So far, it has only cost $17 for nearly 1,100kms, the Ford wants $120 worth every time we pass a fuel station

Well, I dropped the floor in the battery compartment on the side where I plan to install the inverter. Added 35 x 35 x 3mm angle each side to create a shelf to slide a false floor in to seal off the enclosure. After a few failed attempts, I finally manged to get it in the spot at approximately a 30 degree angle ...... standing back and looking at it ..... yeah/nah, it is suboptimal as far as I see it, so a new solution is required.

I think I'll have to bite the bullet, risk the warranty and remove the excess casing from the bottom of the inverter, and then fabricate a cover for the wiring, I can't really see an alternative other than cutting a piece out of the floor of the motorhome and have it sticking up inside shelf area beside the door ...... not real keen on the idea.
