Australian Trivia Only

Drop in and dribble on about nothing serious. Seriously a mad place to hang out. Better to avoid it if you're not in the mood!!! If you're determined to be sad, bad, mad & angry then move along!!!

What sort of vehicle, maker and model, made the first powered trip from Adelaide to Darwin? For a bonus point, what was the vehicles nick name?

No one wanna have a go at the nick name, this photo taken in Burra has a clue attached to the front https://collections.slsa.sa.gov.au/resource/B+17436
I doubt there are that many people in Burra these days

Well, a round about answer for sure, but 747 it was. This was the second attempt in an upgraded Talbot with more horse power and a lower diff ratio after the first attempt they got bogged in the start of wet season and shatte the spare second diff centre, so they abandoned it and took a camel train and steam train ride back home
"474" I think is in the Birdwood Auto museum

Your turn Ray

OK.
Still on transport:

NSWGR (NSW Govt Railways) was the second entity to attempt to build a steam-powered rail service in that state.
(A gravity-operated tramway in Newcastle predates the steam system, but could not climb uphill, so it doesn’t count.)
What was the name of the first entity to try building a steam-powered line, and where was their proposed rail service supposed to terminate?
(Bonus point if you can give me the year.)

WARNING! There is a catch in the question.
