Bernie, did you know that the e stuff has water added to it at the bowser? That's why a lot of cars don't really succeed after using a few tanks of it. Our mechanic owned the servo as well, so he warned us not to use anything e in our car.

Ummm..... ethanol is hydroscopic, it absorbs water, ethanol is metho and the alcohol in the beer/wine/spirits that we drink. Don't fool yourself into thinking you can buy petrol without methanol in it, you can't, the methanol is a mandated thing from the govt, it all contains methanol.dream4red wrote:Bernie, did you know that the e stuff has water added to it at the bowser? E10 is actually higher octane than the standard unleaded, even higher than unleaded without any methanol added, 88 octane for pure unleaded, 89 octane for mixed unleaded and 91 octane for E10. The highest octane bowser fuel you can buy is E85, the stuff the V8 supercars run on, the nonsense about ethanol damaging you engine was put out by the fuel companies to protect their sales, that is why they now have to keep it quite about all fuel having ethanol in it.
If you want fuel without ethanol you will need to buy the blue avgas from an airport.... see how your car runs on that stuff

Seeing as you mentioned avgas Terry that reminded me of my mis spent youth. We had the mandatory 1/4 mile drag strip just out of town (Merrigum Vic) and my first beloved (Terry) had some sort of bypass with a container of such fuel, when needed he would press a button and the hot little car we had would fly past the opposition.
arhhhh memories
