Good news William!!
Sometimes it's the simplest, silliest things ..........
By the way there is/was a chap in a Coaster with a blown motor at Mundrabilla, WA.
Sounds like he's prepared to abandon ship.
Just looking for a lift for himself, his little dog and a few personal possessions.
Might cost a tank full of fuel?? lol
I think Dot will be coming back soon so watch out for lady drivers .......... hahaha

Steve I think William is heading through Broken Hill, Port Augusta and bypassing Adelaide by THAT much!!

I'll post in a new thread info on the chap broken down.

Here's hoping someone may help him.

You can do Ceduna to Norseman three times with that much fuel :)

I carry 350 litres (3.5km/l) and only filled on the way across for peace of mind.

Well we won't be crossing the nulla this time
Fuelled at Gilgandra on Monday, noticed we had broken a stud on a front wheel. Propped in a caravan park and found a young mobile mechanic to give me a hand to change it (I had a spare) As he was doing them up, nowhere near torque, he broke another 2 You could see they had been split for some time, just a bit hanging on.
So getting a new set made in brissie, will be about a week before they are done, another few days to get them here and fitted.
So we have abandoned the Albany rally, iy would be too much of a rush to get there.
Our buying group had new studs made by a guy in Adelaide who then went out of business, he has used crap material and not heat treated them, 2 others have also had a stud break, but we must have been soooooo close to losing a wheel it is not funny. All others have been notified of our story.
The new suppliers make stuff to far exceed its rating so I have no qualms about the new set.
Not a lot to do in Gilgandra though, maybe the Coo-ee march re-enactment this weekend will liven things up a bit.

I reckon Bill was too scared of meeting us (me) in the desert. :)

Naw Dot, met other people more frightening than you, with big guns and trying to top me, so that's not it !
But really do not want a wheel to fall off at 110 kph, that's way more frightening
Or maybe the Coo-ee festival here will prove to be it, dunno yet
Anyway sitting here till new studs made and shipped, and ready to report on the festival, in case any of you wish to make a beeline !

I have big guns but I don't like to "top" people :) I would not know whet to do if a wheel fell off even doing 10ks let alone 110.
Lucky this all happened before you got too far away from help.
