I'll weaken, as this seems to have slipped everyone's notice when they visited the place.
I guess everyone was distracted by the more impressive items on display. (A cryptic clue.)
T1, you're in about the right time-zone, although I think I'd stop a bit earlier in the day (another cryptic clue) , but the other part of your guess is wrong.
And how wrong it is depends on which route you take. You're not 'only just' wrong, you're really wrong! (yet another cryptic clue!)

And just to remind everyone, this is what you probably saw but didn't notice in your guided tour of the rest-stop...
