Brian at his boat with photo laying left.jpg
I rolled the photo onto it's left side and maybe that will come out the right way up. Anyway, where the water is up to on Brian's legs there, it is up to his just below knees this morning ....

Bit of an update. The lions heads at the entry to the Mannum walking jetty (they book end park benches) that can be seen early in the video, are now drinking water.
I believe where the old Blacksmith shack and the walk along the top of the levee bank where the wharf could still be seen through the water, the water is now lapping against the levee bank.
The Pretoria hotel has built it's own private levee in an attempt to stay open ... it might be ok for a while, but at the moment I don't think any of the levee banks are high enough ..... in '56 the water was lapping on the pub balconies, the powers that be are not ruling out the possibility it will go even higher than that once the flow from the Darling reaches Wentworth and joins the Murray.
The dirt road shown just outside the Marina is no longer visible, nor is the grass at the edge of the water and that was yesterday morning.
We didn't pick Brian up today, so we haven't seen if the water is across the Marina Rd or not, but the amount of the lion heads showing now tells me the level will be close if not across the Marina rd.
The water is just at the edge of the river side lane where it passes Long Gully between Shearer Heights Rd and Long Gully Rd, that is the point we will be isolated from Mannum township, once we can't get to Shearer Hts Rd, we will be restricted to parking on the hill behind the house and driving up the dirt track, through the farmers property and onto Flood Rd ..... it's at the point of getting real and at the moment, there are no expectations of seeing the water level this low for another 4 mths .... wedid want a house that overlooked the river .... direct river frontage wasn't part of the plan

The river level live stream shows the water level dropped at Mannum Wharf over night
http://www.bom.gov.au/fwo/IDS60253/IDS6 ... lt.shtmlhe BoM yet the Walker Flat level is still rising ..... either the depth indicator at the Mannum Wharf is now floating, or a private levee bank some where has failed.
On the ABC last night, the powers that be admitted they could no longer accurately say how much water was entering SA because the level is so high some of the water is now going around the spot they use for measuring flow ...... Because the water is now going around the Wentworth Lock 10, yet the indicator says it's still rising, and the Darling is still getting to Menindee so it will take at least a mth to reach Wentworth, SA is really at the point of guessing just how much water is and will be heading our way ..... it has to go through Mannum, the hills either side won't let it go around .........

Water, water every where ..... In the end of that video they show a bit of dirt road leading into the water, the dirt can no longer be seen, the waer isn't over the turn around at the end of the road, but if that fuel truck was still in the Incredible Houseboats yard, it would be in the cab now

No sign of a road in the Marina now, it is just water from the rear of the houses and across the Marina.
The water is across the river side lane at Long Gully now, and Margaret caught a photo of a tree (small dead one) travelling past the end of where the jetty was in front of our house.
20221121 the last jetty goes under on its side.jpg
The two orange floats that can be seen near the pole are now under water and the last bit of the pole can now be seen. The grass in front of the pontoon can no longer be seen, nor the grass in front of the tyres. The tyres are floating the other side of the big tree at the moment because the wind is pushing them up stream, once the wind drops they will be heading for Murray bridge
The seat with a water view on its side.jpg
The seat can no longer be seen and just the top of the poles were visible this morning.

Purnong Rd at Long Gully was officially closed this morning, the water has not actually joined side to side, but the Prius being front wheel drive and auto traction control just made it across the dirt verge that is really just moving mud now ....
The story with the street drains is a bit confusing. Apparently they put balloon plugs inside the drain pipes at the river side, but possibly the rain we had (Mannum rain storm, if you weren't outside at the time you wouldn't know it had rained) over such a big area that the storm water pipes collect from was enough to flood the drain, it couldn't get out at the river end so backed up and is coming out the main street storm water drains ...... it appears I was wrong and they had thought to block the drains at the river end, they just didn't add pumps to get the water over the levee bank and into the river. add to that, the water falling onto the big bags of dirt drained through and into the levee base, then flowed onto the road depressions where the gutter drains are ...... fingers cross it didn't weaken the levee base too much, or when the river starts pushing against the whole area of the big bags, the bank will collapse under them and they will topple onto the road and let all the water in ...... yesterday, they put heavy plastic over the bags, so hopefully they can get to the river side gutter drains and pump them out to get the water out of the gutter that is under the levee bank ......

EDIT: The chair at the end of that jetty shown in a previous post, now has the strangest site with the birds appearing to be standing on water, the tops of the poles aren't visible but the birds still know where they are
