Before we headed off on The Big Lap, we did a 4WD course (we were towing Jim The Junior Jeep), AND I practiced removing & replacing a front wheel & both the inside & outside rears.

That's when I discovered just how hard it is to lift a 19 1/2 inch wheel 3ft into the air to hang it on the spare carrier! ... and invested in Oz-wide Roadside Assistance insurance! Paid for itself when I needed a replacement out at Uluru... let the young & strong do the heavy lifting...

Here we are at the spot we were at 2 yrs ago right out of town near the airport. This afternoon a sign suddenly appeared saying NO CAMPING, PRIVATE PROPERTY. Wasn't there when we came in. Anyway we rang the usual cp's and they were all full and no vacancies for at least 2 days but the last park we rang said to try the showgrounds, yep rang them and have to be there before 4.30pm Unable to do as it was now 4.20pm so told them we would be there tomorrow. 5pm came along and a car pulled along side, man gets out and says "you can't camp here it is private property" On his jumper was a logo of the airport so I asked who was the land owner and he said it was the airports land. Anyway we explained we could not get into the cp's and we had rang the showgrounds and we shall head there tomorrow morning. He settled down and said if we promised to be gone from here in the morning then we could spend the night here . Showed him the Self contained sticker on the bus and that also made him happy to know we wouldn't be leaving anything behind us. Shook hands and said thank you. They really do hate anything other than c/parks but there are not enough to serve the amount of people coming through here let alone any rest areas. When there are events on at the showgrounds then you are not allowed to go there so then what??? 9kg gas swap $27.00.

I can sort of understand when people leave all their rubbish behind for the owners to clean up.

Well what next? George has lost his phone Have been onto the Boost people and they have suspended the sim thing. Then I rang the places he went and even the fuzz but as suspected it hasn't been handed in but what else would you expect? Went to the sally op shop to see if there was a quilt cover other than polyester as the current one slips and slides. Yep there was a beauty on the rack marked Queen size, got back to bus and washed the cover and you may of guessed it, it's a dam double. Heading off to Gemtree tomorrow so will refuel and water top up. Deborah we went to the women's display last time here. It was so cold last night I even turned the electric blanket back on around 3am. brrrrr. Catch you lot later.

Dot, if you need to replace George's phone go onto the Boost website where you will be able to purchase a cheap one. I bought one there for $39 and have no complaints.

Cheeky buggers Looked in the car Bruce but not there so will get a cheapie like George said and go from there. We have just arrived at Gemtree for 3 nights. Sunny and warm but ooooh last night in Alice it was 4deg and they said here was 1 deg. Might go and have a go at paddy melon bowls tonight, they also have their giant hamburgers on their menu but alas Time for some food so copyuslater.
