If you are headed to Elphinstone go via Nebo and up the Suttor development road or come down from Collinsville through Glenden as the road across the back to Moranbah has a few kilometres of dirt/gravel that sometimes gets quite cut up and the distance saving is hardly worth it. The camping area is closed once a month for maintenance due to the slasher wanting an uninterrupted run.

Jim I recently traveled over the Moranbah one. It was a good road even though you must ignore the "Road Closed" sign.
A section of the road travels through a coal mine lease and says "private Road". Many use it though!
I have rellies up there & will get an update on it later on.

Isn't there a huge fine for travelling on a closed road, so much per tyre we were told??
