Damnit, you could be right Bruce. Maybe most of us just would like to return to something resembling normality ?

Re: Phone app
Wasn't going to say any more on this subject, but this is an interesting article of where they are heading next.
"If you don't feel comfortable signing up to the Government's COVIDSafe tracking app, then you probably won't be happy to hear about the pandemic drone.
Software being developed at the University of South Australia in conjunction with Canadian drone manufacturer Draganfly could see drones used to monitor the health of people, including spotting sneezes and tracking whether they have a fever."

Re: Phone app
I suppose the next thing being researched will be a "Drone Gun" that will either cripple the drone or give it repeated messages to return to home
As most drones use the 2.4 frequency this shouldn't be such a hard thing to develop.
I have heard, from somewhere, the magnetron from a high-grade commercial microwave converted to a gun-type thing with backsplash protection will bring down a drone by basically frying the circuits.

Re: Phone app
Not sure if anyone saw the ABC news report this morning about the South Korean virus tracking. Basically it uses the phone location to track the person via the video cameras so they can directly identify anyone they came in contact with via facial recognition.
We already know Australia has all these type of computer abilities so it isn't much of a stretch of the imagination to see where that could end up ..... Seems the South Korean's just accepted that total breach of privacy, they knew it was happening but clearly have been conditioned to such treatment for so long it doesn't register as something serious to them now.
That is a very serious case of "Big Brother watching you" and no matter how much anyone wants to deny it could happen here, it is quite clear it can, all those safety cameras on the highway have facial recognition as do the speed cameras and red light cameras and that has been used for quite a while to catch out drivers trying to claim someone else was driving at the time .....

I don't reckon it'll get up, sure hope not. If it does it wont be with my support. Different kettle of fish altogether to the tracing app. Don't drones still have a relatively short flight time? It seems to me that despite 'progress' with technology one thing not yet managed is the making of drones which are silent & unobtrusive. I can envisage if this technology were used in this way that drone shooting might quickly become a new widespread sport.native pepper wrote: ↑Fri May 01, 2020 6:50 am Wasn't going to say any more on this subject, but this is an interesting article of where they are heading next.
