 On this forum, didn't you read to ToU before you signed in? There has been far too much of this sort of carry on lately but the red kids have been very tolerant...... well mostly tolerant to date, but this being serious can have..... consequences..... so please don't do it too often ;)

Hi Jon sorta cant show nothing yet till I remove the "press/ puller" when I do I will post photo .
Sorry .
Its simple the thread that is in the hole in the pin has another thread welded to it with a nut on it , so when turning nut on the welded bit its not turning the thread inside the pin . Other wise I would be turning the thread that's inside the cotter pin which would strip the thread . simple hehe .

Bernie .

And it is a fine thread high tensile bolt & nut?
Once it pops out you can hold it up with your skinless knuckles & take a nice photo of it!

Did you try moving the king pin up and down to see if it is free and just the cotter pin stuck in the cross member, or if it is actually jammed into the kingpin somehow. It's real purpose is to stop the kingpin spinning around and unscrewing itself off the retaining bolt in the cap, it isn't there to hold the king pin in.
When I was working the bus yard in Tassie we had one that had been heated in the eye and the material softened allowing the kingpin to flog in the hold. Some would be genius decided to wedge the kingpin in place using the cotter pin. The result was the cotter pin was deformed, the kingpin wore a groove in it where the cotter pin was and the only way to get it out was to go up in drill sizes till the wall of the cotter pin was so thin it crumbled when the kingpin was driven out. They had a bushing made for the eye beam to get the kingpin back into the correct angle..... and sold the bus

I think I might have bought that bus Terry ??????????????????????
I'm thinking its not a real cotter pin just a bolt they had and jammed it in .
Bernie .
