Terry forget the other stuff, do what we all do and that is fill up on diesel and hit the road, but drive economically like we do go on bugger off, do your planning when out on the road and if viable do it slowly when you get back.

Cruel, very cruel, Bruce ...... If another one goes up in smoke after all the hard work getting it the way we want it, I'll know the gods are telling me to stay home

If I put diesel in it Dottie, it'll never go again, petrol engines just don't run for long when you put diesel in them

Great news Lesley. Enjoy your travels.
Dot, just say 'fuel' . You can't get into trouble then. No, wait, maybe you can.

Oh that's even better, forget the diesel and fill up with PETROL and just for you it is cheaper:) So just bugger off.

Could I fill up with LPG, that's even cheaper ...... Had a great nights sleep, breakfast, pack up and off to Grenfell

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
Made it to Grenfell to see our friends, then on to Wylong to a free camp spot. Winnie is going great, the further we drive it with the new coils and plugs, the more we realise just how sick it was running before. Still pulling in direct drive with the converter still locked up at 1700rpm ..... before, anything under 2,500rpm was like trying to get anything out of a turbo diesel once you had dropped below the peak torque rpm .... start dropping down 2 gears at a time
Also discovered, the thing always takes off in second, 1st needs to be manually selected, so that is why it didn't change down to first on the long hill when we were heading to Wollongong, it isn't part of the normal operation of the gearbox .....
Fuel economy was much better as well, but with the increase in fuel prices, it still works out to 50 cent/km

Re: Our "New to Us" Winnie
Terry, are you running on LPG or petrol? Regardless, I'm glad you are finally getting some trouble free miles in.
Cheers
