Re: Good morning daily
I too David can not remake the Mock Fish that Mum used to make when I was a kid, someone must remember the correct recipe.supersparky wrote: ↑Sun Jun 07, 2020 10:08 pm My mum used to make something she called mock fish, which was really just grated potato and egg formed into little patties. I have tried many times to recreate them but have had zero success. I found an old recipe book when at Chateau Lockdown that had the recipe that I have been looking for. But I didn't get around to copying it before I left.
I will take care of that next time I am down there. It also had some great old time recipes that I will test one day.

Re: Good morning daily
Morning all late rise 9am after a restless sleep. Sitting at 8c at the moment so heater on for a while.
Speaking of animal fat we trimmed the skin and fat from one full side of pork belly for some more bacon and render down for the fat. Got about a litre of pure fat to use. Always better than the modern oil, might even do some bread and dripping to see if the memories are correct.
Have fun and enjoy the public holiday. Cheers Robert

Re: Good morning daily
That's the one Bruce. I see now why mine fell to bits.
It's funny what you remember isn't it. Just thinking about when mum would give you 2s and 6p (25 cents now) and you were told to run up to the butchers and get a pound of lard. Also, would get the job of running up to the butchers on a Saturday just before 12 with a list and maybe a ten bob note, or a quid or two. The butcher would say something like, alright son, I will see your mum/dad during the week for that. Took me years to work out he was the SP bookie.

Re: Good morning daily
Good morning everyone. I hope that Robyn is OK Bob.
Not enough rain to measure here, and a cool 14 deg. Doesn't look like much of a day. The fruit bats kept me awake most of the night having a feed on the berries on the neighbours trees outside the bedroom window. Might do a bit of trimming today.
I hope that everyone has a good day.
