Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Horrid cold day it has been. I don't think I have known a colder winter than this year., anyone else think this as well? Spring bulbs are up and blooming along with the fruit trees starting to bud ?? TanksI hope you and Mr Major enjoy your new car, we still haven't figured out most of the things in our new car,
Time to hit the sack now so Goodnight everyone x
Goodnight Deborah x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Just to pee you off Dot, we had a lovely sunny day here. I agree the winter has been particularly fierce and to my way of thinking, that is usually followed by a real stinker of a summer. So make sure the air con is in top condition mate. xxxx
Today the kiln had done nothing over night and the controller was flashing Power Fail. This is the first time that the flashing has been on. Usually it has just had a black screen and the words power fail have appeared after I give the power leads a good shove back in. Once we are out of jail, I am thinking of getting our sparky to come and have a good look at the power leads and the actual points on the kiln. I have a suspicion that when the relays in the controller click on, the kiln does a tiny shudder and makes a loud clunk noise. This happens hundreds of times in any one firing, so it could be an accumulation of tiny shudders. This is slowly dislodging the plugs, just a tiny bit, enough to stop the whole process. PITA
Tonight, the kiln is cooking happily and will almost be ready to be turned off soon. I have been closely monitoring it today, to try to find a solution.
Hope you all have sweeter dreams than the kiln nightmares I am living, night all xxx

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Deborah, the power fail problem with the kiln could be a voltage threshold setting in the controller. It might just be set a little bit high, which causes it to think the power has failed.
Cheers

Deb, before calling a sparky I would call Ausgrid and ask that they check the variance of the grid voltage. They may have to sort that out.

George, I think Deborah has a storage battery system as well as grid supply.
Cheers

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Come on Robert spill the beans, What happened to the motorhome idea? easier to back and no huffing and puffing hooking and unhooking. Looks like we are in for some more rough weather. the O games are a PITA, they jump from this to that here and there, sick of flipping through the channels hoping to find something worth watching . Some of you here might know Dave & Jan Binskin from elsewhere, their grand daughter Ellie Beer is running in the 4 x 400 mts 8 - 8.30 pm AEST this Thursday.. Got a few rust bubbles making an appearance on the bus, where does one start and with what?? Brian is really loving his new bed he has been out of it twice and that was once after his breakfast and then after his evening meal, both times to go to the loo
. No one has had a guess as to my hair colour yet, better get to it, it will be washed out soon. Keep safe and warm everyone and Goodnight to you all x
Goodnight HTFFBO who has just lopped in Katherine for a while x

Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dot, hope Brian will sleep as well in the bus with the new bed. Enjoy your crappy weather xxxx
Thanks David and George, I was hoping for some smart advice. David you are right, I do have back up batteries that keep our power regular, but it was still worth asking, George. I wont bother with the sparky, but after we are officially allowed out, I will get on the phone to the kiln man and see what he can do inside the controller, seeing as he claims to build them. I will just persevere with what successes I have, until then.
The glass today, looks lovely but it managed to roll over the edge of the shelf. Much of my shed time was spent making the edge back to a straight line and it is now getting warmed up again to neaten up the edges.
It's cold enough for me to need that warm bed, so night all xxx

Maybe green?
Dot those rust bubbles are only what you see. Once you start poking & scraping you'll realize just how 'bad' it is.
Those involved in 'doing up' old cars simply cut out & paste in a new piece of skin but it's really a job for the crashies unless you have lots of time & are prepared to redo it over & over.
I've seen some put a fibreglass skin over it & sell the unit quick before it pushes that off.
Unless you can get some protection onto the underside it just progresses more & more.
Parked outside over night can be the worst.
When I did a lot of overnight fishing I used to leave my Nissan parked at the boat ramp. Took only a couple of years to rust bubble along the roof line just above the windows.
Condensation from bodies in a motorhome can do it too. You can buy crystals to help absorb moisture out of the air.
Do you have a real good exhaust fan over the cooker? Boiling veggies creates a lot of moisture.
So.... where are the 'bad' spots?
