jon_d wrote: Thu Jul 13, 2017 6:54 pm It's air over hydraulic.

As Wyane said, the air just amplifies it.

A question to ponder:

If the foot and clutch pedal went to the foor; did the clutch fork/arm move?

From Dots desciption, logic says it didn't. The air side can be excluded becuase the foot has gone to the floor.

We need to idenfiy why the foot went to the floor, but the fork/arm didn't disengage the clutch.

Dot; if you look at the pictures there is an inspection cover ontop of the bell housing. It may be worthwhile taking it off and taking a photo of the fork arm.

This will help confirm that there is nothing wrong with it. .... just an idea.... but I was sort of left field with the shiny bit!
Hhmmmmm . But the clutch works mostly, therefore, I think it is unlikely to be a mechanical component. I'm sticking with the air/hydraulic servo - mostly the fluid bit, because a lack of fluid (ie., air in the fluid system) in either of the two cylinders - is the logical cause of an intermittent 'going to the floor' episode.

Yeah it is a Hydraulic problem, if it was the air side the clutch would still work but be VERY hard to push :D

Check the fluid and give it a good bleed as said above

Dot, if this is an hydraulics problem, I can thoroughly recommend the company who fixed our van in Alice.
Called Alice Industrial & Hydraulic Service, ph 08-8953-8222 located at 28 George Cres, Alice

They also do Jayco work, is how we found them, but the service man was exceptional, friendly and willing to work until the problem was sorted.... at a typical bush price of $100 per hour PLUS gst. They all know how to charge like wounded bulls, it comes with the Territory. :o

I was there the other day getting hose for the air compressor, top blokes. Be aware though Dot, that entry off Larapinta Drive heading west, is at the second George Cres, then you go around nearly full circle back to a dead end at Larapinta. :)

Just pulled into Marla for lunch and to catch up with communications as usual No phone but slow internet. Stayed 30 odd ks sthof Marla last night, usual shit rose garden, joined by 3 other MH's 2 caravans, and 6 camper trailers and also a young couple in a car with a blown headgasket :o . They had been told by the mechanic here that there was nothing he could do for them but they should stop every few ks and top up with water???? Personally I would have left the car here and hitched a ride to ?? Coober P and got a bus or something.. They are from Melb   Hope they make it. 8am this morning there was hard banging on the bus door x 2, when I got to open the door there was a man saying" I hadn't seen you and I was wondering if everything was OK?" :? yes I replied but under my breath I said Now go away ;) ;) so does that mean everyone now has to get up , go outside and yell "we are ok" before 8am?? So now I get to winge about him, the sign clearly states NO dumping of grey water so what did he do?? Yesterday we actually saw some wildlife, a horse and then a mob of camels plus 3 dead cows on the side of the road. Have sent all the #'s and pics off to a couple of Jap parts places for availability and costs of parts needed so we drobble along till we get to either Alice or Mt Isa. Only stuck in 6th gear x 1 so far  Once again thanks to you all that has given advice etc. Thanks Janelle for the heads up on that road into the hydrolic place. Next stop over will be Kulgera, stayed there on our first trip and apparently the new owners are kids that worked with G's son and daughter in law.. OK thats it for now G has just gone to buy a loaf of bread from the servo How much will it be? Just $5 Milk $5.40 . OK C U later x

Dot,

If you haven't already, might be wise to purchase a bottle of brake fluid. It's the same as the clutch fluid...

That way, if the seal starts to leak to much, you can top it up.
