About 50 were made, but each was different to the last as far as wiring etc went ..... and there wasn't such a thing as a wiring diagram so anyone could fault find problems as they appeared yrs later. They used a Hyundai Getz body, mine is a 2010 Mk5 and was owned by Ross Blade as his personal car.
Unfortunately, the batteries were in the workshop when it burnt to the ground, they were 12 yrs old at that stage and I'd planned to see if I could recover their lost capacity ..... but I never got the chance.
I'd love to get it going again, as a tribute to the Australian spirit to try something new .....

It can be argued that Henry Sutton made the first electric vehicles in

I believe the was also a Lightburn Zeta electric made at one stage, but I think it was more a factory project rather than a commercial attempt to build electric cars https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zeta_(automobile)

Replacement was the only option back in the day. You could probably get a new aftermarket head now and get the cam bearing repaired.

NOTE: this is about the Mercedes C240 & NOT the "new to US Winny".

I think wear is only "up" & the caps only wear. I noticed the caps are avail for the Diesel Merc so presume are avail for the C240 as well. Pretty sure there are no 'shells' involved either.
First move might be a stethiscope or long handled screwdriver in the ear. Sounded more like a knock than a tap.

I remember the Zeta sedans and later the sports models. They were sold in Melbourne by a seller and distributor of Vespa and Lambretta scooters in Elizabeth Street.
I had a Vespa 150 GL with a TillyBrook Tomthumb sidecar and called in there for spares etc quite a few times.

Died down once oil pressure was up, but there is tappet noise when the engine heats up ..... Dave might be onto the problem here ......

I guess a lot depends on just how well the Winnie goes and how much fuel it drinks $$ wise ..... if it uses twice as much LPG as the Fuso used diesel, it would still be on par with the running costs, but if it used twice as much petrol as the Fuso used diesel ..... then an alternative propulsion method would need to be sorted ..... or if the engine decides my theories were incorrect, and it doesn't run any better, then it's an engine out and that is a good a time as any to do a power plant upgrade .....

If the Winnie is ok, then the Merc engine and transmission can come out and the Lexus V6 and hybrid trans can go in ..... even without the transmission inverter upgrades, the GS 450h had a 0 to 10km/h and 0 to 160km/h are impressive https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ru5D-FpjrC4
