What nice warm doona do you lot recommend? We got the feather one out of storage, gave it a few almighty shakes to redistribute the bunched up feathers but apart from getting it cleaned and re fluffed/filled what type would you recommend??

I personally reckon you cannot go past feather. They are buggers for bunching
I also think you need a winter and a summer one

Hey Steve!!! Doesn't that need co-operation? ;)

I'm not sure I'll ever get used of doona's.
With 3 blankets it's easy to take one off half off.
I find mine on the floor most mornings & have frostbite on my back!!

Friends of ours tell the story of emptying all the down and featers out of their doona into the bath tub, then pot at a time, heating them up on the stove to remove all the body sweat and oils...... they said it worked great, but they bought a new one the next time
Hollow dacro fill, a summer weight ans a winter weight, a blanket over the top on the bitterly cold nights, electric blanket to pre warm the bed in winter, latex mattress and wool underlay. The body just hurts too much to suffer being cold, spend the money, buy good stuff

Oh where to start  Steve, could you be me in mans clothing? ;) I love the doona we have (it is feather & Down) but every year we have to have it topped up and cleaned but it is lovely all the same so think I shall do it again.. My mums single one made a wonderful doggie/ pussy doona. I shook all the feathers etc right down one end and sewed across from side to side. Nothing too good for my pussy. Have a latex mattress plus the sheepskin under blanket, no elec blanket but might have a "lithman" to warm me up..

I think you are living too far South, We have a light cotton blanket and that takes care of the chilly 13 degree mornings, as I sit here in shorts and T shirt   I'm laughing with you, honest

Dot,
We have single & double size dacron-filled doonas.
(The single is an extra for my side. ;) )
Easier than shaking feathers down every coupla daze... especially in the confines when it's raining.
They roll up for easy under-seat storage when we hit the warm weather.
