Dot I reckon the clothes line replacement stuff would do it.
Be about 6mm I reckon. Get the nylon one ofcourse not the old steel type!!
Most hardware shops will have a range of rope to choose from.

Probably need to try little bits to get a good snug fitting one.

The cord can be purchased at awning manufacturers comes in a few sizes.
Probably get it at BIAS or Whitworths too.

Dot
We made up our shade cloth sides
Used the fly wire spline (available at hardware stores) to run in the awning channel.
There are different diameters, choose one which when the shade cloth is fitted to the spline it can still slide in the awning channel

Dot, I think it is just called sail cord. You need to check on the finished size - 2x shadecloth thickness and cord diameter if you are going to put in in a Fiamma awning. The Fiamma has a smaller diameter slot than conventional sail track. When we got had our shade panel made they had to use smaller diam. cord than usual. I will measure it tomorrow and let you know.

Dot,
Yachties call it "Bolt Rope" made in sizes to suit the track. It won't pull out and slides easily. Whitworths or sail makers have it. It is UV OK.

I have been looking at putting shade cloth outside too.
There are other ways to fix shade cloth
This one is available at Bunnings

that ezyfixclip system looks rather interesting. When we were at the Casino village there seemed to be a different range of shade cloth quality and colours than there is down here?? Loved the way they used the cloth for their RV shelter.

Dot, Just had a look at ours. The cord is a flexible rubber 5mm diameter. This one was specially made to suit our Fiamma awning. Others will be different.

I reckon Rob is on the money with the correct name for that stuff.
