Rain up here in the Pilbara

Having been in 40 Mile Beach since early April we've had some good rain 3 times closing the highway and the roads into 40 Mile and I'd imagine Cleaverville but only for a day or 2 each time. They tell us that the dirt roads get really bad if wet, you could be driving along and all of a sudden hit a spot and sink or slide off the road!!! eeeeoww!! and at a reported $1000 an axle charged to get pulled out. it's wise not to test it. After the first rain a couple of vanners started to head out and the Caretaker took after them and told them to stay put for a day or 2 til it dried out a bit.
We are loving it here at 40 Mile and look forward to the arrival of Tanks who's coming shortly. They put on large get togethers with music etc and then there's the 'local' happy hours, fish are being caught and we even caught some queenies and a couple of blue swimmer crabs. We'll be staying for a few months and just relaxing with the occasional drive to check out the sights or shop for food in Karratha............. but look forward to seeing everyone in August at Cleaverville.
Cheers all
