Ok how many people out there know how to spray paint, we ..meaning me are contemplating painting the motorhome.
So give it to me all the pitfalls and good bits.
We ...me again have been doing some small bits but not all that happy so far, the gloss paint don't look all that glossy.
Have I been to thick with the paint? to thin? to fast? The bit I have done looks like a million stars lots of glisten but not smooth.
Open to all corrective answers.
Bernie.

Bernie can you tell us what paint you wish to use or do you want the people to tell you which to use?
Are thinking of using (expensive) 2-pack or just cheap house paint?
Do you have a good compressor with a moisture trap on the outlet?
Do you have a good spray gun?
Do you have good eyes? lol.......... :P :D

Mate there's lots of 'do's' in your answer. No not two pack just a good paint
My compressor should have been donated to the marine environment years ago (does it have a water trap) I wish! (keep a gold fish in it) hehe
I have several spray guns?????????? does that help? Even one of those upside down ones with the paint on the top.
Where's 'Tanks' bet he's done a course on painting.

I think I'm to thick with the paint even tho I put the recommended amount thinners in. To me it wasn't wet enough if that makes sense?

Bernie, This will probably sound like teaching someone to suck eggs but the secret to a great paint job is in the preparation. It doesn't matter how good the top coat is if the prep is lacking. Are you thinking of painting it at home in the yard or in a big shed or a spray booth?

Dirk did an awesome paint job on his huge rig, he should be popping in soon. We are having enough trouble trying to come to an agreement about what type of decal to put on our bus.

Bernie, when you say a good paint, yet not 2 pac, what type is it, what is with the hardener
The first thing to do is make the first coat a little thinner than recommended, give it a fairly quick coat, the idea is to let it tack off to act as a glue coat to help hold the next coat (thicker) on, thats the idea anyway, it just takes practice
When actually spraying, use good comfortable strokes & overlap each stroke, too many people try & spread the strokes too far apart which leaves the paint film uneven, if you want more info, give me pm.

Gotta be 2-pack.
Gotta have a good water trap.
Gotta have a good regulator.
Gotta wear a mask.
Gotta use the correct thinners.
Gotta use a pro!!
Bring it down to Kingston & I'll get my mate to spray it for you........... You can sleep in my house.......... no one there most of the time!! ;) ;) ;)
