Re: Nightly Goodnight Everyone
Dottie,
After 17 YEARS the concrete slab next door to us is being built on.
When the owner arrived for a pre-construction inspection he brought his German Shepherd with him.
Said hound promptly wandered across our unfenced boundary and crapped on one of our garden beds.
Joy immediately walked over and told him very firmly that she had enough work without cleaning up after HIS dog.
Gent sheepishly came back from his car with some newspaper and removed his dog’s little gift to us.
Next day the builders started work... on a very secure fence. Once it was finished THEN they began the house framing...
Lesson: The female tongue is a weapon sharper than a sword.

You might have got a concrete driveway if you unleased your hot tongue Dot, instead of sending George. I guess you did'nt invite them over for scones with strawberry jam, cream, and coffee for a morning tea chat.

Have a driveway already Tanks The man in charge said he will make certain the big ruts caused by the trucks will be graded and made right. G rang the owner and explained it to him and that our gate will be locked and if they need to use out driveway then they should ring us. OK a few of you will say "you are being silly" but what if we still had our dogs and we also have things in our yard that we would like to keep. Respect for other peoples property these days is lacking. Heading to the block tomorrow to pick up the bus so that will be a day out Time to hit the sack so Goodnight everyone x Goodnight Robert not Bob x

Dot, you are not being silly. You are writing about your castle mate. Builders are the same all over. Give em an inch and they think they are rulers . xxxx
Had a productive shed day, but with no finished results to show for it. Yesterday's plate was cracked even worse than before. After it had some more extra bits of glass added, it went back in to fire for a very long slow session. So far it is still in one piece, but it wont finish firing until much later in the night. Will know more after breakfast. I spent most of the time just cleaning my bench. It is amazing how far all the tiny glass particles can travel and make for a dirty bench. It is sparkly now, but probably not for long.
time to warm up again, it's getting chilly here, so off to that warmed bed
night all xxx

Got the bus home this arvo. On the way there just out of Birdwood the coppers had cars pulled over for the blow in the straw thing, I was quite pleased as I was wanting to see how I would do with scrape of my tongue/arm. The copper was great, but he said I didn't look like the junkie type so I did the straw blow and he said "off you go" Bugger I was really disappointed, maybe next time. That is only the 2nd time I have ever been pulled over. That trip knackered me out so I am hitting the sack. Goodnight everyone x Goodnight Riverlander x enjoy your away time x

Dottie,
I was likewise disappointed that during the time I was on heavy duty painkillers when I broke 11 ribs, I was never asked to blow in a bag when, about three months later, I was able to resume driving.
I was desperate for a copper to pull me over and ask, “When was your last alcoholic drink?”, coz that was 14th January!

Dot, my record stands. In over 50 years of driving, I have not been tested yet. Still waiting for it tho. Glad you got home safely and no real dangers. xxxx
Spent most of the day trying to recover a rocking chair that is a family heirloom. Almost finished the first one. The second one will have to wait until I recover from this one. Can't believe how lucky we were to find the remnant of the fabric that his mother had used to cover them and it was just enough to cover the main bits of the chairs. So the worn areas are all covered with "new" fabric and so far, the first chair is such an improvement. It was worth doing for another 25 years at least.

Dot glad to see you have the bus home ok, been breathalysed quite a few times and all in Qld where they are heavy on it.
Deborah there are web sites that specialise in hard to get fabric, pleased you were able to get what you needed.
Mild night last night after a few cold ones. Cheers Robert

Up at Quorn tonight. Was going to go over to Tumby Bay to see my old Mum but chickened out as we thought we both were not up to it with the van. ( will pop over in the car a little later) Will spend a couple of days here and then back home over a couple of days.
Goodnight All. Cheers John and Faye.
