Post by Craig »

Just found this on flea bay. With the promo till the 28th Jan. It doesn't look too bad.

I had the misfortune of dealing with these people about a year ago. Next to no communications other than to excuse their delay in dispatch. Believe they sell prior to purchasing, hence cannot dispatch in a timely manner. Check out their negative comments...much the same issues. Also their 'mppt' controller cannot bulk charge, and as their communication is so poor I found it best to write it off.

You have to wonder about these sellers, even in the specs they list the max current as 10.92 amps yet the controller is 10 amp rated??? If you think of it as buying 2 x 100w solar panels with legs and the rest garbage, then add the price of a genuine MPPT controller and cabling, link the 2 panels in series for the run back to the controller mounted near the battery, then you will have an idea just how much a system that will work will cost.
Two 100w panels hinged together would not be easy to get in and out of the TD or easy to move about. Picture throwing a full 20 ltr Jerry can in and out of the TD will give you an idea of the weight but not how awkward moving something of that size and that weight would be. We used 4 x 100w folding panels (2 x 50w each) for a trip to the Caravanner UWE and Taggerty and that was enough for me, I made a set of semi flexible solar panels for the next trip, much easier to handle.

I had considered all that Terry. My intention was to use a spare pl20 I have. And on just about all of the portable setups I've seen, I was going to have to re cable. The only pluses with buying a ready made set up is the carry bag and corner protection on the panels. I might wander around bunnings to check out what I can use for corner protection. I have considered size and weight and stowage for transport is not a problem.

A few bad comments in the last month over Xmas period but their feedback % is very good at 99.7%, I would more than likely buy off them based on that

Hi Craig

If you aren't in a hurry then the delay in receiving the panels won't bother you.

I used the 200w panel to power the NBN satellite service on the roof of the shed. They supply an extra set of corners, don't know why, but I guess they are a weak point. I think a piece of aluminium riveted around the corner would make a more permanent corner.

Terry's comments are quite relevant, and it does need another controller.

The bad comments must be read, as this supplier does not just provide solar panels Winbor!
Many of the comments are about other products.

I hope we can catch up sometime Craig and I can twist your arm into showing me why I should have been prospecting years ago :)

Sounds good Jon. I'm in the middle of processing some of my specimen gold. I like to have some ready to sell in case I need some quick cash. The gold is what I just used to pay for the camper trailer.

I read the bad comments Don and Kay, I also read many of the thousands of good comments, I still say 99.7% is very high on the feedback scale
