haha :D :D :D
I can just hear you now John.......... """ I will not turn it off because I just told you it is NOT a bloody generator!!!"""
That'll quieten down the "no genny" mob!!!
You know I usually keep out of that old argument but I get more problems parking near people with battery chargers turned on than I do with a noisy genny.
Then there's Dot's 5AM corellas but we won't go there...........

As far as I am concerned carrying the 12 genny ( or any other Genny is a bit like fitting a winch to the bull bar, one of those things you fit / carry and hope you never have to use.
I actually used it at Lake Popolitah, south of Broken Hill, when a young lady had stopped for a rest in a Corolla (different breed to the Corella they seem to generate their own power, along with the noise.) and had a flat battery, I hooked up the alternator for a couple of minutes and got her going.
I could not understand why the Caravan set would pull up at a camp site at around 5 and immediately fire up the genny, (usually only for a short time granted) I had to ask the question, surely if after driving for some time the batteries do not need charging, it seems that most of them fired up the genny to enable the use of the 240v coffee machine.

Times have changed a lot John but some years ago every farmer & tradie had a gen set for their convenience where no power was available.
A lot of these had the older basic caravans with no power in the van other than a very light wire feeding 12v from the vehicles battery for one or two lights.
Everything else was either gas or ......... start the genny up.
I, personally, don't see a problem with them as long as they don't go past 10pm or so.
That is a statement.......... not a shot to start a war!

Haven't you heard of Motorhomer midnight, they are in their PJ's and tucked into bed as the sun goes down
10 am start till 3.30pm is a better shut down time me thinks, it gives a 5hr recharging time. This allows for a happy hr in peace and to enjoy the sounds of the bush as one lot goes to bed and another lot starts, just wish I could still hear that stuff ;)

Dot, Is your parrot a relative of N'mans parrot? I've met that one, it talks very well. Just don't take it to church.

Norman's parrot was my original one till he parrotnapped it, I had to wait for the next batch to hatch for mine. They talk very nicely when they get together... Sounds like a session in parliament house

Dot, We need to move the last 4-5 posts to Banal or somewhere then I can say that the parrots would have a more intelligent conversation than the pollies ever could and nobody could say I was being off topic.

I personally don't have a lot of argument against gennys so long as they are used judiciously, came across one van that used it to run the Air conditioner overnight, just got settled down and the note would change as the A/c cycled on or off, I can sleep almost any where as long as the noise is constant, but every time the genny changed load I woke up. SWMBO wakes at any excuse, so not a good night, and a worse morning following. That is probably the only case I have come across in the last five years or so that has been objectionable. The modern breed of inverter gennys appear to be much quieter and certainly less objectionable.
