Polished panels

Post by Dibsy »

Well yesterday I polished all the panels . Not to bad when ya got a power polisher . And Terry I don’t mean a floor polisher . Yea I can hear those wheels grinding over . Terry by question . Would this make the panels produce more power than they ever have done . Just a minute ogo I looked at the victron and was making 52 amps and the sun was only at 45% to the panels . Is this possible .

Was there a bit of very light scattered cloud? If you were near water it will have an even greater effect. I've seen 125% plus output from the roof top panels back in Day Street Lake Illawarra on a freakish weather day. Caused a bit of havoc and I learnt to not make calculations on the max 70% expected solar output because the 50% plus overload was a bit more than the safety margin I'd allowed  Now I calculated on 100% of the solar advertised capacity divided by 12v, that gives enough to cover just about all freak solar stuff and the solar circuit breakers trip if it goes too far out of anticipated range for a while, well before the SSR's go up in smoke anyway
