I have a blood big awning on the side of my MH, I don't leave it out when not being used (Big Sail flapping in wind scares the bejeezes outa me)

After 2 weeks of bliss, I pack it away for the last time before travelling and notice it doesn't settle into its proper position (front end), arms into arms etc and jams 5 cms from proper position one end.

I struggle in and out until it settles in properly (firmly) then notice the other end (rear end) now does not home correctly.

I move on, at next stop I check and both ends are in correctly??????

Surely the chassis hasn't twisted enough to prevent the awning from settling into its travel position???

Anyone else experienced this?

No but I've seen several people have trouble when they attempt to put them away.
I suspect the locking bolt on one end may have come loose?
Do you slide the 'strap' to the centre to hold it so it winds up slowly & squarely?
Is yours an A&E awning Russell?

Not sure of brand, has last segment of awning fully covered in aluminium to protect from weather when furled.

I've looked at branding and forgot (its an age thing)

The awning can move back & forward on the drum.
You just need to pull it in the right direction & get it back to central & all will be good.

I've got a 6 meter awning on the side of my camper & get the same problem.

Some stick a self taper on the drum to stop it moving.

Just seems wierd that one end is OK but the other one is not?
Both ends are fixed to the axle so if it's ok one end it MUST be ok the other?

I guess you are referring to a Dometic A&E 9000 with aluminium slats on the section between the roof/wall attachment and the awning fabric/vinyl?
Admin is right that the two ends are a fixed length, so if one end is out, so the other should be. It is most unlikely that the Arm attachment on the vehicle has slid to one side.
I had a similar issue when folding up my previous awning (21 foot) and found that securing the awning fabric/vinyl to the sail track in the roller with a small pop-rivet on both ends fixed the problem. Mine is similarly attached with rivets to stop the awning sliding in the upper sail track.

Had a good look at the problem with my mate and that was the problem, the awning fabric slides on the main roller, we could move it and it solved the (problem/made it worse/solved the problem) ,marked the roller with a texta and may add rivet in due course.

What brand is it.
A friend had a similar problem with a Fiamma awning, only way he could it to sit right was to take it to a repairer and get it reset in the casing, they're a real PITA.

I had the same problem and solved it by putting a small screw into the rubber cord and through the drum.
Ensure it is correct first by taking off the tension and moving the awning on the drum till it is lined up correctly.
Check how far it is out and then pull it that distance and then check by rolling up until it is right.
Then drill the hole and insert the screw preferable with a washer as well. I used a small piece of ali strip to give it better hold.
