Chairman Dan speaks!

Watched a press conference over the weekend, where Our Dear Leader, Chairman Dan gave us the Good Word from on high:
“No-one needs to drive more than 10 kilometres to have a Covid test.”
Right.
We’ve just returned from a 90km round trip to comply with the Victorian Passport requirement that we have Covid tests three & thirteen days after returning home… so we have to do another 90km in ten days!
This despite the fact that we were in outback Qld for the previous nine weeks, and drove through outback NSW, stopping only for refuelling before reaching home just 10km from the border, where we’ve never had a positive case! We have been effectively self-isolating for nine weeks, yet we have to self-isolate for a further two weeks.
Good thing we’re honest people… there was NO-ONE at the NSW/Victorian border to check our state passports, so officially no-one would know that we are home, or that we are required to have the tests.
And as I write this, SWMBO has received an email from the gummint telling her that because they couldn’t get our passports processed before the stated travel date, (two weeks beyond the application lodgement!) they’ve cancelled our applications, threatening dire consequences if we enter Vic without a passport. 🤣
We won’t let on that our other applications were successful automatically, without needing human intervention. 😳😀

ps. I suppose we could have driven 10km to Corowa IF there were somewhere there to be tested (there isn’t) but that would have required entering NSW, and another application for a passport to re-enter Victoria’s precious turf and a re-start of our 14 days self-isolation and new requirements for Covid tests on days 3 & 13.
This had the potential to become tedious.

Ray, if you moved to Corowa, you wouldn't have the problem.  But seriously, when has Chairman Dan ever been outside the Melbourne metropolitan area. They all think that nobody lives past Craigieburn or Dandenong.
Country people don't count, apparently.

Still think he's done a better job at stopping the Covid spread than Queen Gladys ....... It's a wonder Barry Humphries hasn't sued using the Gladies as a stage prop ..... but I guess he has Senator Douglas Manton https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eP4HM6Oe2LA too fall back on

Absolutely correct T1, I'm just glad that it wasn't my job to try to rein in Covid. They have all done a better job than I could. But they all forget about the people that don't live in the greater metropolitan areas.

Seems it is the metropolitan areas that sprout the protestors, haven;t seen any rural people marching ?

The heat is increasing on Gladys for several reasons, most seem to think Covid Lite is a waste of time, and now it seems she did interfer in Wagga Wagga grants. He must have been a great...............................

Well. in NSW those living outside the major cities say the letters stand for Newcastle, Sydney, Wollongong .... because that is where all the money goes and the state govt ignores the rest of the state when it comes to infrastructure spending .....
I don't think it's only Gladys this going to face an up hill battle come election time regarding how the Covid pandemic has been handled ......

I’ll be very surprised if Chairman Dan gets ANY votes in regional Victoria…

And surprise, surprise! Both our Covid tests came back ‘negative’ … might have something to do with the fact that for the entire nine weeks in Qld we were never within cooee of a town where Covid was present. 🤔
Plus, our drive through NSW was all on outback roads, and we passed through current problem areas before they were problem areas.

Great to hear you got the all clear for the first tests, I'm sure it will make your local community and all those you come in contact with over the next 14 days, feel safer.

As far as Dan getting any votes, if based on how he and his govt have handled the Covid lockdowns, do you think they would have preferred the NSW approach?
I know here in SA, although not all are happy with a lot our state govt has done, the way they have treated the Covid lockdowns have received the thumbs up all round as far as I can tell ....

It is easy to criticise any or all of them. And some of them deserve it for various reasons. But I'm bloody glad that we are all in Australia and not some other places in the word.
If you cast your memory back a bit and think about some of the waffle that Orangeman or Boris quacked on about.
