It's frightening to watch these blokes climbing to the very top of a tree, then start up the chainsaw which was dangling on a rope!

No problem with this bloke Ray, he used a Cherry Picker.
What amazed me was the professional way he did it, he had the truck on the driveway and dropped the whole tree on the other side all within a 3 mt. of the tree base.
He reckoned the tree was about 70 ft tall.
When it was all down he cut it into 14" logs so we could split it for the fire.

Know a bloke who has a similar business but he climbs the trees in question using a harness - with a chainsaw hanging from a belt! Does a similar job but I imagine your fella would be a little quicker! 
What was the cost of dropping/cutting that monster?
Is it coincidental that the photos so far are all tree related or is that the theme for this month?

$500.00 smackaroos Chuck.
But we got 3 or 4 months of good hot fires out of it when it dried out.
So probably saved $300.00 by not having to buy firewood.

We've had two trees removed from our back yard (starved by Melb's 10-year drought) & both times the bloke used boot-spikes to climb the trunk, with the chainsaw (not running) hanging from his belt on a 10ft rope. He'd wedge himself in place, then haul up the chainsaw & start cutting.

If he'd had a cherrypicker, we have access for it. Might have made the work easier.

Had a quote to do ours cupla years ago, tree a bit shorter than yours... $1200 - $1500 that's leaving a stump & make your own arrangements with the wood on the ground!
