The never-ending debate as to the affect of the ice caps melting due to rising sea surface temperatures and the effect of the polar ice caps adding to the ocean levels, seems to be taking a new twist .... will the added fresh water dilute the level of salinity in the surface ocean water causing it to stay n the surface rather than sinking to the lower depths, the thing that generates ocean currents.

So, with the Northern hemisphere have a mini "Ice Age" while the Southern hemisphere gets even hotter .... or will all those living close to the present sea level end up with a water front property, some distance from the coast.
The planet has already seen one huge ocean level rise .... will it see another within our children's life time? Or will they be looking at the same problems we have now with the Chinese buying up huge properties for food security, from the USA and Europe?

I seem to recall that there was a bit of scientific kerfuffle in the past year or so, about the magnetic poles inverting which would change the axis of the earth.
So maybe the boffins really don't have a clue, and what will be........
And we'll all be doomed, cos Bruce Willis has some major health issues and he can't save us.

Where is the magnetic Nth Pole now compared to the geographic Nth Pole? Apparently it is moving away from the position it was 12 mths ago, at an ever increasing rate, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/North_mag ... ar%20drift).
So it's probably happening right now .... but it's a slow process, will the Earths rotational axis shift? No, not by the same amount anyway, it is always on the move anyway .... as to why, what ever caused the wobble happened a long time ago and I wasn't on that project

The shift does play havoc with very sensitive compasses, but they just get recalibrated every so often to make up for the shift, I have no idea if it screws up long distance navigation, it seems to be a bit hit and miss at the best of times anyway

The reversing of the magnetic poles has happened many times throughout history and had little effect on life previously that we know of, but with the current conditions who knows what will happen. As for climate change, they don't have a clue what is or will happen but it's certainly happening in many ways. As for a northern hemisphere ice age, it's possible just as many other scenarios are. I doubt we have any real idea of how nature works and will either combat the changes, or take a different direction, but it's getting more likely that nature logically is targeting the driving forces behind the negative changes and maybe why we are seeing huge rain inundations of cities and other population areas which are the main drivers of warming.

Years ago thought I had a good idea of which way it would go, but nature seems to have other ideas and because humans are basically stupid self-centred ideological beings taking no responsibility for their footprint on the planet, our demise is already well on the way and we see that in many aspects of life. This is becoming more noticeable especially in the young, who are suffering early death at an increasing rate in supposed advanced societies, if you can call destructive societies advanced. Let's not forget the never ending constant wars humans indulge in to support their deranged ideologies, that is certainly contributing to change and in those cases we don't even notice it.

Where I live, we have places where high and low tide marks where engraved in rock almost 2 centuries ago and those marks are now below water level, so sea levels are rising, but how far they rise is anyone's guess. But we won't know the direction nature will take until the causes of warming are stopped and sadly the opposite is happening, so it's beyond our ability to determine how the climate will react because we keep fuelling the causes, just like humans keep fuelling the causes of their deteriorating health situations. Now you just can't get any more stupid than that, the science is all there regarding climate change and health, but no one takes any notice they just keep on contributing to the problems and increasing the future outcomes.

Here, we are experiencing a number of viewable changes to our weather, more rain periods but less of it, fluctuating temperatures that seem to change a number of times a day sometimes. As we live in the roaring 40's, our winds seem to be getting stronger in the last 25 years of taking records, today the winds are much stronger with more periods of over 100kph. Twenty to twenty five years ago, we were lucky to get winds over 100kph every few years, the last 2 years we've had over 100kph 13 times and 2 have blown away my wind gauges this year, the strongest so far is over 160kph before the wind gauge shattered and it virtually stopped large parts of Tas blowing down power lines and trees.

Yet governments just keep repairing the damage and doing nothing about coping with the problems, instead of putting up more poles, they should be putting power systems underground so they are safe from wind and fire. But like everything with ideological humanity, they just keep repeating the same mistakes because they don't believe the reality that all life now faces. Now you can't get any more stupid than that. Luckily living in the ground and being almost self sufficient, means we don't suffer from these weather events, except having to clean up after, which for me means cutting up downed trees. But I'm sure down the track, we will have to cope with some dramatic unexpected changes.

I believe the last magnetic pole reversal was pre human reliance on electricity, some 780,000 yrs ago, give or take a few thousand ...... But it's not a case of the poles flipping or even changing over the average human's life time .... although there is a claim that one reversal took roughly a yr ...... but there wasn't anyone monitoring these things back then I'm guessing humans will adapt as usual.

The loss of the ocean currents because fresh water is reducing the salinity level of the surface warm water, as they have already found patches where this is happening right now, it seems to be a likely scenario. The big freeze through the nth hemisphere will freeze fresh water that falls as rain on the land and the less salinized surface sea water will become ice sheets .... eventually the salt balance will return and the currents start again, just a lot faster than the big freeze.

Over on our side, it will probably get even hotter because the Trans-Atlantic currents will no longer carry the heat across the globe so it can disperse.

Lots more rain, the ground water table will rise and bring up the salt with it, we might even get our inland sea again ..... but agriculture will suffer. The clear indications of the salt level rising can be seen throughout South Australia and the Murray Irrigation Area (MIA) The rest of the planet is already buying up large pieces of in Australia for food security, hard to grow a decent food crop with the ground being a sheet of ice.

I see ideas like the tomato farm https://www.sundropfarms.com/our-facilities/ near Port Augusta and the shipping container vertical farms becoming far more common, our beef and lamb will be pre-salted during production, there are already crops developed for growing in a saltier soil, cattle, sheep, roos and rabbits will do ok on those, we just need to develop farming methods that suit the changing nature of the meat industry that will feed the world of the future


As for wars being more common .... really, as long as animals have been able to move, they fight for territory, even the corals on the reefs. Plants invade other plants territory, nothing new about that.

Kids age dropping because of early death .... seriously, they live a lot longer now than in the past, we have less kids these days because we don't need to have as many for back up to cover the ones that died at an early age.
We had a 20 yr reunion of the all boys high school I attended, 1/3rd from that yr along had died, a lot from drug problems, I believe the survival rate is better these days than even that far back in history ...

We are all gunna die, no one gets out alive, but we should be doing the same as all the generations before us, making life better for our kids. We won't stop the rising global temp, we have known about it for long enough and done next to nothing to slow it, so we need to work on ways for our kids to survive what our greed caused .....

I dunno much about tomato farms but I do know that there is a bit of a push from farmers in the Riverina to market sheep and lamb raised on the salt bush and turpentine bush that grows so profickily in that region. It tends to be called salt bush lamb. I believe that the boffins suggest that not much but saltbush etc will grow underneath the solar arrays of the renewable energy plants that our govts or our energy providers are building all over the place.

All the ones over this way are so close to the ground, you need to be raising rabbits ..... keeping them inside the solar farms fencing might be an interesting project ..... maybe cement down to a certain level and access tunnels that went straight to the slaughter line, self herding, self feeding process lines, with hats and meals coming out the other end

Free Range Chicken farming might work as well ...... I would get hot enough under the panels around mid day mid summer, you'd just need to insert the rod to rotate them, after the feathers stopped smoking .....

I'm guessing that's the four legged kind, plenty of 2 legged ones up there that no one has cashed in for the reward.

One day Qld will be slingshot into the 21st century, then that might all change ......
